Brazil actually fines Facebook $1.6 million for an improper sharing of client information

Brazil's Ministry of Justice said on Monday it fined U.S. tech goliath Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) 6.6 million reais ($1.6 million) for inappropriately sharing client information.

The service's division of shopper assurance said it had discovered that information from 443,000 Facebook clients was inappropriately made accessible to engineers of an App called "thisisyourdigitallife."

The information was being shared for "faulty" purposes, the service said in an announcement.

Facebook said in a messaged explanation that it was assessing its lawful choices with respect to the case.
