The news of the recall of President Jacob Zuma is making headlines all over the world right now. Can it really be the end of the road for JZ? The man is like a cat with nine lives and has always managed to dodge the long arm of the law and shirked responsibility for his wrongs whilst in office. He was never going to leave quietly.
Will Zexit really happen or will there be conditions?
There is no urgency, there is no ultimatum, no real attempt to get rid of him. The ANC secretary general and known right hand man of Zuma is adamant that the big man will respond tomorrow, but that remains to be seen. Zuma has requested three months more, at least, to say his goodbyes to the African Union and BRICS and introduce the new guy. This has been called counter-revolutionary. That it is.
Perhaps the constitution can save us? Let's hope so, as opposition parties prepare for a motion of no confidence.
For now, he is still here. Annoying, but incredibly exciting times for our Rainbow Nation.
african politics is something that beats my imagination..anything can just happen.
