A trio of Nova Scotian impact players have begun preparing for the upcoming season. Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins and Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche have been training on ice in Bedford, a suburb of Halifax, since last week.
Along with other players from the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, they engage in one-on-one, three-on-three and breakaway games.
A native of Halifax, MacKinnon was a finalist for the Hart Trophy last season, with a total of 39 goals and 58 assists for 97 points in 74 games. The honor is back to Taylor Hall of the New Jersey Devils.
Also born in the capital of Nova Scotia, Marchand scored 85 points, including 34 goals, in 68 games in 2017-2018. Finally, Crosby amassed 89 points for a second consecutive campaign, executing in 82 clashes.
