It finally happened! Bitcoin just became legal tender in some of the richest countries in the world. Champagne for everyone!

While other banks made it harder for Investors to enter or exit the cryptocurrency, Scandiabanken now testing out the new waters and integrated Coinbase all the way into the inner parts of the customers dashboard and viewed as an account just like if it was a normal bank-account. You still have to do your trading at Coinbase or elsewhere - but a huge step in the right direction and I welcome it warmly.

A new Bitcoin-Account to watch for Scandinavians

Not long ago I was denied by my bank to wire money from my account to a bitcoin-exchange. The transaction was stopped by the bank. After talking with them and got them to lift the ban, I asked what was the problem - why the bank is interfering with my business? The answer from my account manager was that the bank viewed Bitcoin as a scam, in fact the transaction was flagged a scam... This year - 2017... I had to laugh, I've been buying Bitcoin since 2009 and never had a problem until this year, so I am extra happy to see Scandiabanken+Coinbase=True.

The Bank-winners will be those who cooperate with new actors about new technology, not those who denies it - Christoffer Hernæs, Scandiabanken

As a customer in this bank, i must say i'm delighted. Though it is a bit defensive. They should offer full integration so i don't have to rely on a overseas company.

Hehe, I noticed that too - Yeah, they are taking baby steps for sure. Probably they doubt their own abilities to keep customers bitcoins secure at this moment in time so they have to rely on a third party. In a year or two I bet that will have to change.

I'd love to know how that Steem Transfer works... Pocket Change...

You can transfer Steem and Steem dollars through Poloniex, blocktrades, openledger and possible other services as well. It is a bit tricky but once you get the hang on it, it's not difficult.

Probably waiting to see how hard the central banks will come down on them. Risky daring move on their part. Good to see if it holds up.

We'll get there one day.

Great news !! I hope steem will get the same traction in the near future !!

I will not be surprised when STEEM becomes #1 on Coinmarketcap. I mean, look at this place - people from all over the world is joining in droves.

Me neither! I believe in steemit man..

It's only a matter of time before the mass rush from facebook and youtube.

ye , its possible the currency as we know it , we be gone in the future.. that how i think about it , no usd,eu, yen all currency will change to, bitcoin .. steem nd more

currencies do have lifespan...

I wish the arab world catches up; indtead of being into violence to each other. :(

It will, don't worry.

Smart move by Skandiabanken ... tak for tippet, det må man vist hellere tjekke ud.

Your welcome, got to check it out :)

Holy flying Cow, this is unbelievable fucking good news !!!

Without a doubt! Now other banks gonna stress into crypto as well. Not that they have the competence yet, but it is good to see them joining the blockchain :)

Wow! Cool!

This is good news :)

This post is so interesting and heplful to the newbie like me. I follow you, upvoted and resteemed this post :)

"It finally happened! Bitcoin just became legal tender in some of the richest countries in the world. Champagne for everyone!"

(raises glass)

Cheers Matey!

Great news! I believe that in time, all major banks will accept bitcoin and other crypto currencies as legal tender. This is another chip in the dam! Thanks for sharing...

Great News and great Post. this is what we have all been waiting for.

Great news, the funny part that banks always see everyone else as a scam but not them self, but we all know with new technologies like Steemit, it will not take long to change that.

that is why I am here. The Republic of Steem.

"aye aye"

"To The Republic of STEEM"

Cool, cool, cool!

Well, this is fantastic news. Metcalfe's law - value of the network is proportional to the square of the number of users. Hopefully we see more users from the mainstream switching over.

For sure we will.

Greate news, now the steem will grow also, people will have more trust now in crypto.

Yeah, did you see the Bitcoin drop the other day? I was sure we would go down to $1500-1250 but we just hit major support and retraced back up. Bitcoin is super-strong in 2017 compared to 2013. Mighty Impressed.

One big step.
I hope this will be an example for other countries and banks.

Banks are just middlemen, so when the world goes Crypto - they will follow and set themselves up as middlemen in the new economy as well. I would personally never deal with a bank again, but for people still stuck in worthless FIAT money, I am very happy for them.

Back in my days we bought Bitcoin in a dark alley from a man with a van ;)

Great news! Do you have a link to a press release or something btw? Thanks!

Absolutely! - You can read an article about it on E24 (Norwegian) : http://e24.no/privat/bitcoin/naa-faar-du-bitcoin-i-nettbanken-kan-ikke-fornekte-ny-teknologi/23996559 Just use chrome translator if you need it in english.

Thank you! I read Norwegian very well, but thanks for the translation tip anyway :) Good for others who wants to read more :)

Your welcome :)

Yeah... Coinbase getting all diff banks from diff country into crypto trend but on the long term, they will block many accounts due to their absurd laws.

As long as banks open up for their customers to buy Bitcoin will benefit the customer in a great way. Maybe he will never return to the bank after he has moved his coins from coinbase to steemit via an exchange ;)

I remember talking to someone (investment banker) about Bitcoin about 5 years ago. He kept saying "I just don't see the need for it". I disagreed explaining that he was seeing things from a bank establishment bubble. Now I get to say "I was right" The idea of the banks stopping people from investing is laughable when you consider the recent bank crisis in the US.

Hahaha, that made me lol4real :D "I just don't see the need for it" - What a dumb investment banker :)
I totally agree with you that banks stopping people is laughable, had my fair share of similar convos with similar people over the years. They could not invest cuz they baghold Gold & Silver from the top of that bubble.

Funny, I couldnt' buy bitcoin with my CC a few days ago, and they "blocked my card", I am using Swedbank (swedish bank).

Damn, that sucks. I have heard similar stories, horrible when they block cards like that. What are they thinking?

Wow!! Amazing news. Can't wait for what will happen next! Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you for your time to comment. That is what I love about steemit - we get to share common interest from around the world, and get rewarded for it. The future will be fantastic :)

Yeah, it's really awesome! I believe this is just the beginning. And me, being part of it feels great!

The banks know they can stop it, so they might as well goin in:)

Exactly. There is nothing stopping this train called Crypto!

Yes, you right. And don't forget. We are the ones with steem engine machine.

Congratulations @fyrstikken!

Да! GoloBoard is my Russian brother ;)

This may be a huge change in Norwegian policy, for I still remember Justcoin having to close down/sell out to Xapo in Hong Kong because of DNB's (lawless, unfounded) rejection of Justcoin's business along with unilateral account closure (amounting to breach of contract on DNB's part) -- for the very same reasons you told you encountered back in the day in Norway.

With Skandiabanken, this may finally change for the better -- I do not even believe the Norwegian Central Bank would block this latest move because, technically, they were not the reason for Justcoin's closure. Den norske Bank's private internal (total rubbish) policy was, and Skandiabanken seems to have a better one!

obviously the Scandinavians are ahead in many fields and also here they have understood the power and wisdom of joining the crypto revolution rather then trying to obstaculate it.

no, they are not "ahead" *), at least not in a good way: these utopist societies are only far ahead on the War against Cash though and already about to criminalise the use of bills and coins. Privacy has never been much of a concern in Nordic "culture". Populations in all Nordic countries have a tendency to blindly believe in their governments and place an unreasonable amount of trust in politicians; hence they do not object moves like these. (To be fair, Norwegians are a little less idiotic than the Swedish though.)

In light of that, it makes perfect sense to "allow" Bitcoin into the "sacred" banking scene now. Along with Swish and other cellphone-to-cellphone (albeit central-server-hosted) solutions maybe... On top, why would you really want to hold your money in a Norwegian bank (now as bankrupt and under-capitalised as the rest of the fiat currency system, after Norwegian bank capitalisation collapsed from 8-odd percent to just 2.1% over a year ago) when, instead, Bitcoin and all p2p decentralised Crypto coins allow you to "Be Your Own Bank"?!

Still a nice experiment there at Skandiabanken. Thank you @fyrstikken for sharing. Curious to see how this plays out and what it might lead to...

*) that Swedes, Norwegians etc are "so ahead" is one of those common stereotypes touted by people who never had to live in these boring, egalitarian, feminist, and utopian societies. They are beautiful countries with great nature -- Norway actually claiming to be powered by it :) , which part of the world isn't... -- but many people there behave like children and are painfully short of real-life knowledge, interpersonal skills and common sense.

I am not familiar about this until someone approaches and informed me regarding bitcoin. I am glad I was fully aware. :)

Awareness is important for successful investors

Scandinavians are always open minded.

yes and no ;)

That is good news :)

This bank blocked a payment I did to a Bitcoin exchange just 1 week ago. And now just 1 week later they do this? Color me intrigued :)

Not the same bank. I use a local bank in South Norway, while Scandiabanken is more of a bank for scandinavia.

Now that's a tasty update. Gracias jefe! I'm off to get some ice cream.

Mmmm, I love Ice Cream :) Have a good one... Or I guess you already did - was it good?

Indeed it was a strawberry delight.

This is really great news! Hopefully it paves the way for other banks worldwide to do the same.

Indeed. I truly think it will - if they cannot beat us...

I still think gold and silver should be legal tender not this Fugazi shit that we don't see or touch

What about Fake Gold and Fake Silver?

Great News! Bitcoin is becoming legal tender gradually in others countries .it's a big reason to increase in price of Bitcoin.

Hvilken bank definerte Bitcoin som en scam? Greit å vite hvilken bank man skal unngå :)

You seem to know your way around Steemit... I could use a few pointers... Pocket Change...

Thats incredible news, what do you think the price of BTC will be by the end of 2017?

This is a huge step towards adaptation. I guess the big boys can't look away now.

Steem is turning heads around the world.
Followed.

Yeah, they better have been buying in silence while they could or they be the pumpers of the future :D

You bet your ass they have. First thing these guys know is diversification. They have been covering their asses with Bitcoin for years now. Its 2017 and the market cap over the past few days is growing a billion/day. Only banks have this kind of leverage.

so true, so true.

Bitcoin with no borders.

yeah, the more banks connecting their customers to Bitcoin the better. They might actually survive into the next economy because of Bitcoin.

The more bitcoin and alt coins you own. You have your own bank.

That is so cool! I'd love to see this happen in Canada.

Fantastic news! Go go go!

So as i understand it, the feature only allows you to view your coinbase balance and not actually be able to purchase BTC?

yep - baby steps :D

It being Scandinavia and all i think this is a huge step :P

This is great news and very encouraging. I am due to move to Sweden in a few months and will certainly make Scandiabanken my fist choice for banking.

Bitcoin just became legal tender in some of the richest countries in the world this is great news for all.

I got a small refrigerator back here in the cleaning supplies room where we can cool the champagne. Nice. #janitorsunited Upvoted and resteemed by the backshift people with larger toilet brushes than mine!

I don't trust banks and I sure as hell don't trust Coinbase. I recommend everyone still use Bitcoin peer to peer. Be very wary when a crypto company cozies up to banks and governments.

Yeah, I don t put much trust in banks either. They sell overpriced products for commission. No need for them anymore really. There are more Indexes now then there are stocks on the stockmarket (funfact)

For Bitcoin taking over the world finance is just a matter of time. Banks can postpone this bitcoin invasion for a while but will never be able to stop it.

Banks... they just want "in" before their customers gets in. Like someone else pointed out, who else has the capital to move Bitcoins market cap with a billion a day but banks?
