What in the world should you do on Steemit? You sign up for an account. You maybe started posting. You're looking at other people's posts. You've done some commenting and uploading, but you just you're not getting any traction. You don't know what to do. We're gonna tell you how - coming up.

Hey guys, my name is Spencer Coffman. Thanks for watching this channel. It's all about making information known to you. We've got plugin reviews, software reviews, online hints and tips, social media how-to, and a lot of information on how to be successful on the Steemit blogging platform so you can spread your message, grow your following, and be successful online.

Today we are going to talk about what you need to do on Steemit when you first get started. So you are a minnow. You're a fresh fish. You're a little tiny thing. Your reputation score is small. You started out when you began at 25. As you progress, you're gonna grow. You're gonna get higher. You see a little number next to everybody's username. That is the reputation score. Your goal is to get that to like 70. It'll take a long time and it'll take a lot of work, but you can get there.

Introduce Yourself

3-tasks-2.png

The first thing you need to do once you have a Steemit account is put a post in the ‘introduce yourself’ category. It's spelled just like it sounds. It's three words all one word so you put them all together. Your first post needs to go there. Now, if you have already posted on Steemit and you haven't put anything in the introduce yourself category don't worry, it's not too late. In fact, it's never too late.

I didn't know about introduce yourself when I started on Steemit and I was on there for several months before I found out. Then, when I found out, I started commenting and engaging with new people on Steemit. I started growing my following. I started posting more. However, I still didn't put a post in the introduce yourself category. Then, when my reputation score was over 55, I had over 400 followers, I put a post in the introduce yourself category. So it's never too late.

3-tasks-3.png

The reason you need to put a post in there is because tons of people are scrolling through and sifting through reading all these posts in the introduce yourself category. There are a ton of posts going in there. There are some statistics on Steemit that says thousands of people join, or try to join, every day. You may have had to get verified before you joined Steemit and it may have taken you a day, 24 hours, two weeks, some people have waited as long as three months or longer to get on Steemit.

This is such a popular platform. There are millions of people from all over the world. The reason it's so popular is because it's cryptocurrency-based and you can make money for doing all of these things. Therefore, as a new person on Steemit, put a post in the introduce yourself category. Now, what do you say? Well, you're gonna introduce yourself. Tell people who you are. What do you like to do? What are your hobbies? Why did you join Steemit? In addition, how did you find out about Steemit? Why are you making an introduction post?

3-tasks-4.png

In your intro post, if someone told you about Steemit and they're already a user. Like if you're watching this video, and you don't have a Steemit account and you're thinking about getting one. Or, you haven't made an introduce yourself post and you're going to go make one after watching this video. What you need to do is put an @ sign and then the username of whomever referred you to Steemit in your post. Like a shout out. ‘Thank you to @SpencerCoffman who encouraged me to make my introduction post.’

3-tasks-5.png

Because what that does is, that will ping them, and alert them, that you are now on Steemit. That means you're going to get a follower and you're probably going to get a hefty upvote on that post. In addition, they may even resteem, or share, your post to their network, which means you could get even more earnings on that post. So call out to anyone who referred you here, anyone who brought you to Steemit, or anyone who encouraged you to make an introduction post because that will help you significantly.

So tell people who you are, so your name, where you're from, what you do in life, why you're on Steemit, and give us a little bit about yourself. What you like to do, maybe some fun things, something like; you make YouTube videos, you write books, that's what I would put in mine. Or, if you like hunting or fishing, maybe you're an athlete, maybe you do anything, whatever. You have five kids - you've got 20 kids! You've been married six times. People want to know.

3-tasks-6.png

It's like a blog platform. So type out a good blog post. Make it well-written and add pictures. That is a very important thing. You must add pictures in there because people like to see pictures. Don't just put some generic pictures from Pixabay or Google Images, put some pictures in there from you, from your family, some that you have shared maybe on Facebook, or Pinterest, or other places. Add some photos in there, post that on there, and let's see what happens. Make sure to put some tags in there too.

Buy Steem

3-tasks-7.png

Another thing that is very important for you to do when you sign up on Steemit is get some more Steem. So go get verified on Bittrex is probably the best because the fees are pretty low, the trading is reasonable, and you can trade hundreds of different cryptocurrencies. Poloniex is another one that is pretty good that can allow you to trade Steem. You can also use the in-house called Block Trades, which is right within your Steemit wallet. When you buy, it'll take you to Block Trades. Fees are a little higher there because they need to support themselves but get verified on them because the process will take you like a week.

3-tasks-8.png

So, when you first sign up on Steemit, get verified on there and allow that week to happen, or whatever it takes, and start purchasing some of this crypto. If you're on Steemit and you're still not verified, put a comment below and ask if there's anybody who is willing to sell you some of their Steem. Chances are, many people will leap at the opportunity to sell you their Steem because they know that by selling it to you that you are gonna follow them. That will help them grow, as well as help you grow because now your vote power will be increased when you power that Steem up to Steem Power. So put a comment below seeking out people who are going to sell you their Steem.

3-tasks-9.png

Now, you may have to pay a little bit more. Perhaps it's trading at whatever five dollars and fifty cents. You may have to pay six dollars. No big deal. Don't worry. And, you'll also have to use some form of external payment method like PayPal, or something, where you can transfer money to someone. Maybe you have a Bitcoin address on Coinbase or GDAX you could send them Bitcoin they could send you Steem on your Steemit account. So that is what you need to do. Create an introduction post, power up and buy some Steem, and be involved in the community.

Be Involved

3-tasks-10.png

That is the third thing you need to do. Start commenting on other people's posts. Follow other people and get involved because if you upvote other people and you follow other people and you comment on their posts, they're gonna see you. You're building your brand. They may follow you back, reply to your comments, they might resteem your posts. Your exposure is gonna grow. You are gonna get found. Not only that, but your reputation score increases significantly when you start being active in the community.

It's a community that is encouraging other people to help everyone else. It is not a community where you can get rich quick. You are not a sole profiteer here. You're in it together with a group and by participating in the group activities upvoting, liking, resteeming, following you will grow quickly in reputation score. Take it from me. It's happened.

I want to thank you for watching this video. I really want to hear from you in the comments below about anything. If you need to purchase some Steem, if you have any questions about what you should do, if you anything in this video was unclear about the introduction posts, about your wallet, about online trading, like on Bittrex or Poloniex, check all that out put it in the comments below. Read the other people's comments because chances are you will find a lot of answers in those comments that you're not going to get from this video. I'll hop on and help you guys out whenever I can.
