Yoga : Naukasana - The boat pose

In this asana body is held like a boat(Nauka), therefore it is called Naukasana.

How to do Naukasana?

  1. Lie down on the back and join both feet together. Put both hands together with the body.
  2. Take a long deep breathe and slowly exhaling take your both the hands near the feet and also lift your legs and chest.
  3. Your eyes, fingers and feet should be in a straight line.
  4. Feel the strain in the navel due to contraction of stomach muscles.
  5. Take long deep breathe and stay in the asana
  6. While exhaling, slowly come to the ground and rest.

Benefits of Naukasana

  1. Strengthens waist and stomach muscles.
  2. Strengthens hands and feet and gives the correct shape.
  3. Beneficial for Hernia's patients.

Contradictions of the Naukasana

  1. If you have any problems related to low blood pressure, headache, migraine or any back, then do not do this asana.
  2. Asthma and heart patients do not do this asana.
  3. Women should not do this posture during pregnancy and first two days of menstrual cycle.
