Seamus Blackley, designer of the original Xbox console, announced the re-release of one of the most unfortunate gamepads from Microsoft, known as The Duke. It is interesting that the news about this appeared in June last year, but only now the representative of the Redmond company disclosed all the details.
As you know, Blackley is a fan of The Duke controller, even despite the massive and not the most ergonomic design. According to him, the main reason for the re-release of the gamepad was the nostalgia of many fans, since with this accessory are linked their childhood memories. In addition, one of the users suggested to Seamus on Twitter to revive this controller. This message gained about 2,000 likes and retweets.
Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Studios and the Xbox brand, also liked the idea, so he strongly contributed to the re-release of the gamepad from the original Xbox. Seamus believes that this shows Microsoft how it values its history and heritage.
The updated Duke gamepad will have a number of key differences from the original. It will show a USB connector for charging and a pair of bumpers. And the main innovation will be a small round OLED screen in the center, displaying the classic animation of the Xbox, which was the old dream of Blackley.
The new controller will be released in March this year at a price of $ 69. It will be compatible with PC and Xbox One.
