WWOOF - Live and Learn on Organic Farms

in #wwoof8 years ago

Hello fellow steemers,
I want to introduce to you this great site and concept WWOOF, there are others of the kind i think, but this one i knew a few years ago and it's the one i know.

If you have a farm / house, like to live as a community, don't have much money or don't want to spend but still want to rebuild/build something with some extra hands ? Then you can be a host !
On the other side: do you want to travel to other countries or just leave your house / city for a while, help out eat healthy and breath some fresh air ? Then you can be a volunteer !

The idea is trading some daily hours of work for the stay and food, this may be as simple as watering the vegetable garden or rebuilding an old house.
This is different according to each ones needs so farms usually state in the description what they need and have.

They may have a land, but not have in house accomodation, so you can only camp or park your trailer or mentioning if you can bring your pets, how many people they can acomodate, anyways everything is usually very well described on each farm.
There is also a visual indication with green, red or yellow for things like "Open", "Closed", "In need of urgent help" and also hosts can choose to be contacted only in certain periods of the year if they choose so.

WWOOF network does this by connecting farm / land owners with "wwoofers" charging a small fee anually to both, the host paying a bit more.
The site is very well setup with international sites all linked in this one

I've met some "wwoofers" and one or two farms, it seems to work nicely most of the times.

I'll leave you with the introduction video of my country side, enjoy and spread the word.
