Taxes are needed for the running of a country - for building schools, hospitals, universities, social support, etc. Taxes are one of the major sources of income for governments. Corporations need to pay taxes in the jurisdiction that they operate in as they use the facilities, the infrastructure, etc. Also if they shrug their responsibility of paying taxes,they shift the burden of tax payment to the middle classes. These are the very people that contribute to the success of the corporation. So that's why there was a backlash wrt Starbucks in the UK
