Giving up sex and masturbation for a month actually makes you sleep better, according to a new study.
The results of the study were published in the journal PLOS ONE.

I used to think that nofap was just a bunch of guys who wanted to feel like they were better than everyone else. But this study shows otherwise: giving up sex and masturbation for a month actually makes you sleep better! The study also found that semen is a good antidepressant. Sex and masturbation releases hormones, but too much can result in lower testosterone levels. NoFap could be particularly helpful for young men who are suffering from anxiety or depression due to lack of ejaculation or frequent erections during sleep, which may lead to poor performance at school and work.
Researchers at the University of Montreal asked 20 young adults who reported never masturbating or having sex in their lives to abstain from sexual activity for 30 days while they wore accelerometers around their necks as part of an experiment. The aim was to see how much sleep time each participant got each night during that time period; researchers also wanted to know what happened when participants slept less than usual because they were not getting enough restful sleep thanks to all those extra hours spent watching pornography on their computers or smartphones (or whatever).
The study also found that semen is a good antidepressant.
Semen contains high levels of serotonin, which can be used to treat depression by increasing levels in the brain.

What you're probably thinking is, "That's great, but what does it have to do with me?"
Well, the answer is that if you're not getting enough sleep and your testosterone levels are too low for your body to function properly. Low levels of this hormone can cause fatigue, moodiness and depression. It's also linked to memory issues and reduced concentration in men.
In fact, research suggests that low libido (the desire or ability to get aroused by sex) may be a warning sign of an underlying medical condition like depression or high blood pressure—and could even lead to heart disease later down the line!
NoFap could be particularly helpful for young men.
Young men are more likely to suffer from porn addiction, erectile dysfunction and low testosterone levels. Research has shown that these three factors can lead to depression, anxiety and other mental health problems among young men.
NoFap has its issues as well.
For example, a study of the site found that people who used it to avoid porn had higher anxiety levels than those who did not use the website. Another study looked at the effects of NoFap on users' sexual desire and found that there was no difference between those who abstained from masturbation and those who did not.
There's also been some controversy about whether or not these benefits are real: despite what's written on sites like Reddit and Imgur (and even some peer-reviewed studies), most experts say no one can be sure if they exist without long-term follow-up studies in which participants are tracked over time with special equipment so they don't forget to record their feelings while they're having sex again...
1 Sleep quality improves
If you're like me, you might have gotten into the habit of masturbating or having sex every night. But if you're like most people, this might not be sustainable in the long run. After all, one of the main reasons we do it is because we want to feel good—or at least avoid feeling bad (which can lead to depression). So when your body is craving release but also needs sleep so badly that it's not getting enough rest and your mind isn't fully rested either, it makes sense that giving up those activities would lead to better quality sleep.
You'll wake up more refreshed and energized than ever before! And since studies show that poor quality sleep can lead to weight gain and other health issues later on in life (like diabetes), giving up masturbation could actually improve your overall health by improving its effects on how well our bodies function during our waking hours as well as after we go to bed each night
2 Your testosterone levels increase
In addition to being associated with better physical health and stronger bones, testosterone is also important for mental health. Studies have shown that low levels of this hormone can lead to depression and anxiety disorders—and even suicide attempts! This is why it's so important for men (and women) at all ages to keep their testosterone levels stable by avoiding excessive exercise or overeating junk food regularly.
3 Your mood tends to improve
You will be more relaxed, and therefore have more energy.
You will feel happier overall (even if you aren't doing anything different).
4 You may become more focused, driven and motivated
You will be able to focus on the things that matter most in your life.
You'll increase your confidence, energy and motivation levels.
You'll feel less depressed and anxious about all the things that go on in your life.
Your irritability will decrease significantly, which can help with relationships as well as personal interactions with others (especially if you're dealing with someone who is just being annoying).
5 Less anxiety, less irritability and less depression
Anxiety is caused by dopamine. Dopamine is released during sex and masturbation, but it also spikes when you're anxious or in a stressful situation. So if you're looking to reduce your anxiety levels as well as your cravings for fapping (and who isn't!), then noFap could be helpful for you!
There are many benefits of sex/masturbation denial.
It improves sleep quality.
Increases testosterone levels.
Improves mood, motivation and drive (i.e., you’re more likely to be happy when you're not having sex).
Reduces anxiety and irritability (and therefore reduces depression).
