Warning: suggestive potential adult reading ahead, read at your own risk!
Is advertising, suggestive marketing, or perhaps even subliminal messaging a ploy to make us spend more hard-earned money, to fraternize a location or event, to make the big guys richer and little guys poorer?
Thinking back to when I was a child, sitting on a Saturday morning watching cartoons on the Telly/TV, my eyes grew wide as I took in commercials for toys, cereals, or vacation places and dreamed of having everything I saw.
Toys in particular were sensationalized with what they could do, the realness, which in effect was a complete lie.
The toy would end up being cheaply made and if, as an example, it was supposed to fly, it did not fly without your help, this not shown in the commercial which made it appear to fly on its own.
Such disappointment!
The game soon lost its glamour and was relegated to a dark corner of the toy box, never to be seen or played with again until it was time to thrift it away. Hard-earned money down the drain!
Even today, even as adults, we can still be dismayed with the results of effective marketing.
For instance, beautiful vacations…. the advertising will only show you the best parts and neglect to advise you of the hazards, the unsightly, or the to be prepared fors.
Beauty and vehicle commercials will play to the emotional ego, displaying the adventures you can take, sometimes being played up with status shots or perhaps even sexual or sensual connotations.
With the advancement of technology and the expertise of marketing specialists, many sales pitches render products something other than they are not.
The next time you look at a commercial, notice how colour and the rule of thirds enhances a product, and how technology can inspire us to purchase the perfect product.
What we don’t see in video commercials are the numerous “cuts” which are made to get the perfect shot for the product, or the “erasing of blemishes” in still advertising to do away with the undesirable. The cropping and staging that goes along with enhancing a product's assets while minimizing or hiding its flaws.
Did You Know?
The two most common and most effective colours for advertising sales are red and yellow.
There is a whole psychology in regards to colour and the influence it has on people.
- Red: Creates a sense of urgency, therefore, buy me now, you need me. It is a sense-stimulating colour.
- Blue: Creates a sense of tranquility, peace and reliability, reminiscent of the calming effects of water.
- Green: Creates a sense of health, balance and tranquility. Think of nature.
- Purple: Has always been associated with royalty, but is also associated with wisdom.
- Orange & Yellow: Both are perfectly cheery happy colours.
- White: Has always signified purity and cleanliness.
We are drawn into advertising through clever messaging, colouring, and staging; effective marketing will make you buy almost anything… so buyer beware!
For your further reading pleasure, may I suggest this:
Ride Me
I can see the steam rising from your body as I press my warm buttocks to the soft skin that begs to be caressed by my garden roughened hands
The rays of the sun glimmer off every curve and I am giddy with anticipation, for the morning dew that holds you within its grasp is like water for my parched throat
I can hear you purr, ever so softly, it makes me catch my breath with delight for I want to take you for a ride like you have never been ridden before
From the deep valleys of nether regions to the top of the highest peak, you will rumble with all the glory that you are and we shall reach the climax together
All the while my mouth waters, this is the forbidden fruit I was not meant to touch nor taste, but yet, I cannot hold myself back
I must break the rules, I must see where you will take me, I must speed through time making it stand still and journey through the universe as though it were just you and I alone in this world
Encase me within your body so that I can feel safe and feel the rush of desire as I cradle your solid stick and send you into high gear with one quick flick
Let me enjoy you if only for a little while, I must do no damage, leave no mark, the imprint of my body within yours will not last, I will make sure of that, but it will be a day to remember
I will steal you away to parts unknown and prepare for the backlash that will surely come, for you, my little beauty, you are a gem worth sinning for, I will take that chance
And when I am done using and abusing you, I shall put you in your rightful place where you can sit quietly and wait for me to sin with you again
I must apologize now though for I fear, should my husband find I have sinned with you, he will surely lock the doors and throw away the keys, and no more will I play the seductress to you, my beautiful vintage GTO, for you belong to him!
This is a fabulous piece of writing! Loved it! 😁
Thanks @thekittygirl ❤️
Hahahaha! Marketing has probably become the number one sought after careers, to make it you have to become the best of the best cons, to create desire within even the most hardcore adversary! Like me!
Beautiful write-up, @thistle-rock!
You got someone's engine going!!! Hehehe
😇 I wondered if I would get any responses, lol 😇
I worked in marketing... didn't like it, it is the one reason I have a problem selling my own stuff, lol....
You are not the only one, I'm supposed to be downsizing so we could move, but that's not happening!
We are selling things too in preparation for a move in the near future ... I leave the negotiations up to my husband, lol.... I also refer to selling my artwork, I have a hard time pricing things, it doesn’t help that we live in an area where people do not see value and don’t want to pay much!
Sounds like that same songbird that is spotted around here, the one who's singing "cheep, cheep, cheep"!!!
I've never wanted to be a GTO so bad! Lol good stuff hun🤣🤗

Marketing is another example of how the whole world is a stage, made famous by Shakespeare.
I left the corporate world because of all the marketing we had to do... I was not good at it.... if you don't believe in something, it is really hard to sell it!
What did you want to do instead of marketing?

First choice would have been to work with animals; been a good enough artist to make a living at it; archeologist; solved mysteries.... hmmmm.... can’t decide 😁 but thank you for asking! 😊
That's interesting, you could still do those things, no?
Well, yes, and no.... a bit too near retirement to want to take on a new career 😉 but, I lived some of my dreams to a point... I was a wildlife rehabilitator for several years and had the opportunity to care for a few special animals, I am an artist I just don’t make a living at it, every day is a mystery and we often have problems to solve, and not sure how an archaeologist fits in, perhaps all my digging in clay to try to make garden beds has just not afforded me any unknown treasures, I might have to find a new place to dig 😜 💕😁
Awesome write up! McD...red & yellow. Maybe that’s why I have been packing on the pounds!!!

Ha... yes... if you look at the advertising of many restaurants, decor, etc., it contains red... red stimulates the appetite! Thankfully food does not turn my crank, because red is one of my favourite colours 😉
Where did the 'adult reading' go? That was frign awesome!

Not sure what you mean, but it's still there @enginewitty 😊
Ah, I came back here on @partiko and the way you have it formatted, the app isn't picking up the poem. Not your fault, still there on other places like steempeak.

Hmmmmm.... I have never used @partiko.... why would formatting make a differnce.... note to myself, check in to it!
Idk but it doesn't recognize a lot of html or markdown even. Hopefully @partiko is working on that.
