There I stand at the edges of the forest,
I’ve presently reached without intention,
Resting for a moment in the place I’ve come to know as home,
At first dark and frightening,
Now familiar in it’s creaking branches,
But the openness beyond is new,
Past the trees that sway ever so,
The golden light it flickers just beyond,
And the grass and the fields shimmer in honey hues,
And the trail,
Loose, unending stretches forward,
I embarked without knowledge of destination,
Into the depths of darkness unforeseen,
And now into the unknown I travel again,
Willing or not,
That’s just how the path meanders,
Onwards, outwards, forwards,
A constant surrendering to the flow,
And here I am,
It’s like a whole new universe,
Peaceful, nothing I could ever envision,
I rest here a moment and watch roots of the forest give way,
Replaced by the flowing edges where love lives,
Within me, within you, within all ...
lovely writing - and you paint such a whimsical story. the image is super fitting for the writing as well, kind of fairytale esque :)
Thank you @itinerantartist, that is nice of you to say. I photographed this conceptual image a few years ago and wrote these words only recently. But I thought this image had the right feeling :)
its your photograph as well?! amazing! i thought for sure it was a stock photo! well done - its stunning :)
Yes :) I studied photography and did work in it for many years. I still love fine-art photography although I don't do it as a career anymore. Oddly, I have found my way back to visual arts. My first love! Not sure how photography still fits into things but curious on this overall journey and where it will go. I am glad to have found your poetry and illustrations, they speak right to the soul with beauty. Thanks again :)
