Why do people want to live in LA?

in #writing7 years ago

Or any big city for that matter? I just drove down the entire West Coast, and it's insane how much nicer, calmer, prettier, and relaxing every small town is compared to the large metropolises. The traffic, the crime, the pollution, the insanely inflated cost of Real Estate, why do people want to live here? So they can get parking tickets? So they can pay double for meals that would be half price in a more reasonable local? I really don't understand it. The mental stress of even being in the city, much less living there is so incredibly unnatural. It's hard for me to Fathom why anyone would intentionally choose to do so. Some people say there are more opportunities in the city. But for every job I've ever applied for and a city, there were many many applicants, and in some cases I didn't even get an interview. And small rural towns you always get an interview. And in some cases there aren't any other qualified applicants, and you get the job!

I don't understand it either. You couldn't pay me enough money to live in LA

I live in a small town. There is a college, a theater company, a rich musical and literary community, and some really great restaurants. The only downside is there isn't much late night activity. I wouldn't want to live in a big city. Too much traffic and crime.

Smalltowns are nice, but boring
