It's all about hitting that sweet spot.

What price can get you the maximum sales and maximum volume before it turns people away??

As a standard i rarely pay for apps or services. Netflix is an exception as it is good value for money. They amount of hours entertainment that we get from it for the price that i pay is very good.

On the other hand i won't pay for sports channels as the price is way too high and they don't have all of the games anymore. To get all of the matches you would need three or four subscriptions costing over $100 a month. Compare that to a firestick subscription that has every sport, every day for just $100 a year. It's an easy choice. Now if the main sports channels had a subscription for $200 that had perfect picture and service every time there would be a choice to make.

Unfortunately they have massively overprice the product and people are turning away in their millions.

I did pay for an app today though.

It's a sports app that i log into every day and used to be 100% free. They give fixtures, news and information on all sports relevant to the country.

Short, simple articles but it keeps you up to date with everything happening in Irish sports.

I used to browse almost every article on it over the week until they switched to a freemium model. About 75% of the articles are now behind a paywall with some articles free for the first few hours and then pay to read after that.

It was very frustrating seeing all of the headlines that interested me but unable to read them.

At $60 it was just another subscription that i didn't need.

Anytime that you clicked into the free articles it also reminded you that there was a subscription to access all of the other content and pushed you to sign up for a month or a year.

This month however they have a special deal. Obviously their subs weren't going the way that they hoped as the new deal is a limited time offer for $25.99. Less than half the normal price or 50c a week. Or a quarter of the usual monthly sub.

At 50c a week it suddenly became worth it to me. I can spend 50c on a lot of things but a weeks worth of sports news and updates is good value in my opinion so i signed up today.

I'm sure that a lot of other people will as well now that the price has reached a point of value where it's content is greater than the price they are asking for it.

I'm not privvy to their books but they might actually generate a lot more revenue at half the asking price if they can double their paying userbase.

I would love to see the figures and find out. Now that value point can be different to everybody so it's about hitting the right point where you can get the most people signed up at the highest price. It might even take some experimenting to see how many they can sign up now and if they raise it next year to $40 how many they would keep or lose.

This goes for every business when they are trying to launch a project. Splinterlands launched their beta decks at $2 and it felt like good value. All of their packs now are $4-5 and i don't have the same urge to buy them anymore. I just don't think the contents are worth the cost.

The same goes for Inleo subs when you can price your content yourself. I'm not doing any subscriber content as i don't think it's worth $5 a month to anybody. $1 maybe but who knows. I also haven't signed up to anybody's subs as there is very little there worth $60 a year for in my opinion. I would rather to read the authors that i like and vote as i go.

Everybody to their own and if you have big projects here releasing blogs, content or special information then maybe i would change my mind. It's all about personal perspective.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the future and whether we can attract some bigger personalities to the chain with an audience to follow them.

For now though I will keep writing for the fun of it and for free.

The services are expensive which is a kind of luxury

I hadly subscribe to anything except if it will be benficial to me. Like spotify i can subscribe to that for my entertainment or netflix i had to stop cause no cash flow

i was thinking, if i had the inclination to offer subscription content, i might experiment by offering say 4.5 HBD monthly refund to every subscriber, so net cost of 0.5 HBD per month, and 1st ?10 subscribers get lifetime lock-in at that price - and perhaps even a share of future subscription revenue. Lot's if ideas.

I find it hard sometimes to subscribe because most of the subscription I have made, it is looking like I am not getting the desired result from it
