A New Era, Understanding + Learning From Each Other : Who's Your Audience?

in #writing8 years ago

How many times have you formed words, from thoughts, and wound up wondering... Why?

You must know the audience you are writing for, and respect that they are dedicating their time for your words.
All story's should be compiled of information, problems and solutions. This keeps the stories interesting, and also engaging for the reader.

Our keyword here is you, The Reader. Now this may come as a shock to some... however I feel completely confident that those reading my story already know about this brilliant revelation brought forth.

Advertising is a huge business based on "Knowing Your Audience". How effective is a Crispy Potato Chip commercial after salivating for 10 minutes from your most endeared cooking program? On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd say a strong 8. Those 15 minutes of previews before your film always seem to be stitched together with a collection of movies that pertain to the exact same genre of movie you're there to see.

Coincidence? I think Not.
Like a movie studio, and similar to commercials ( I am not here to sell), I want to know my audience.

I'm a newly aspired and curiously creative writer. Who is looking to find a"niche" in this vast world of words. I want to enlighten and inform an audience in a positive manner, with the expectation of creating "time well spent" material. For this objective to be successful, I must be open to change and willing to adapt for my audience, while staying true to myself.

This could be considered a sequel to my introduction, however I want this to be a promise and a mention towards my dedication as a writer for you the reader, and to myself the writer. This is a two way street and I want to pave a path for us all to cruise down, while enjoying a joyful exchange of time.

Cheers to you!

I think that a lot of people here are tech oriented, and tech articles do well here. I learn a lot about tech here, but also about all the different subjects that people write about, if they are knowledgeable about a subject and are able to present it in an easy to understand way here. I also like creative writing, and that is what I have done so far. I have seen lots of good creative writing and poetry, posted by creative people with good writing skills.

I think you'll find an audience for almost anything you decide to write. The list of tags in the right column are ranked in some sort of popularity order, so you can use that for a bit of a guide to what has been popular on here so far.

Best wishes to you and whatever you write!
