Merriam Webster defines 'Addiction' as a strong and harmful need to regularly
have something (such as a drug) or do something (such as gambling).

Many people suffered from this~ be it from drugs, gambling, drinking and etc. This is a very serious matter but not everyone takes this seriously. It doesn't start as something major ofcourse, it is the things that sometimes may seem frivolous and insignificant that later on takes over our whole life.

People usually becomes addicted because they feel disconnected. As what a famous journalist Johann Hari once said,

"The opposite of Addiction is not Sobriety; The opposite if Addiction is CONNECTION."

It is when we feel lonely or in the midst of despair that conduce us to find our outlet that lets us escape from reality.

But as a 'Christian' how do we deal with this?
Below are some ways to deal with addicition~~Christian Way.

Delaying Gratification

Every great things comes from something small, same goes with addiction. Delaying gratification means knowing when to detain yourself in order to have/achieve something much more worth it. The longer you wait for something, the more you'll appreciate it when you get it. Remember
ANYTHING WORTH HAVING, IS DEFINITELY WORTH WAITING.

Focus on another pleasure

Sometimes things are very hard to avoid because we tend to overthink/overdo them. Diversion of attention and interest is another way to fight the temption of addicition. Always remember that

When you say No to Temptation,
You are saying YES to something BETTER that God has in store for you.

"Walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh"
-Galatians 5:16

Whenever we are tempted to resolve our frustrations with the things that are worldly, let us be reminded to walk with the word of God together with the guidance of the holy spirit.
It might seem impossible at first, but if we let God work into our lives,You shall overcome.

One problem with addiction is that the person suffering from it start seeing it as a normal life style. It's even worse if he/she constantly see other people engaging in such lifestyle. Addiction can be easily solved if it's identified earlier and the sufferer see the need to put a stop to it. Nice post

Very great idea @resuscitate :) Thank you
