RE: How things work on a court TV show

in #writing7 years ago

I've been dealing with a ridiculous (seriously, made for TV) lawsuit for months now. I won the case and the defendants are actually wealthy and could afford to pay me without even noticing the balance missing from their accounts, and I'm still hounding them for the money and dealing with the paperwork to compel them to give me my friggin money. It's so annoying. I was randomly solicited by not one, but TWO daytime TV court shows (Judge Mathis and People's Court). I thought it was so hilarious that I literally framed the letters I got in the mail. It was a wonderful silver lining to what has been an emotionally exhausting experience. I kept joking that all I needed was a letter from Judge Judy and I would have the trifecta.

Happy to hear you won. If they've got the money, you should be able to access it eventually, once you jump through all the hoops. Sounds like a real pain in the ass. People try to hold on to what they've got no matter what they have, I guess.

I’m sure you hear this a lot but these people are literally the worst human beings I’ve ever met in my life. They just want to make this as miserable as possible for me even though they know that they’re backed into a corner. Even one of the two mediators who sat down with us couldn’t hold in his disgust. I’m sure Judy would have loved tearing into them.
