Eternal waves were splashing away as sunshine and shadow painted themselves on me. Time stood still. But things.. they're just happening as we speak. They're in motion even as I'm laying down here, under a tree, doing nothing but.. feel. As I drift into the twilight, the lullaby of leaves reminded me that Earth is spinning on its axis, dancing around the Sun, swimming in a never-ending sea of space stuff.
But those were not just waves of the aquatic variety. It's also the kind that you can almost hear in the background, building with all the impetus of a crescendo. A substream that could soon take over the world by storm. Some consider it to be the single greatest wealth distribution and societal disruption in the history of mankind. All we need to do now is to spend some time building and using decentralised platforms.
Anyone can give you a different narrative to "What on Earth is Happening?" because there's just so much going on. But I'm the kind who likes to follow technological progress. It's what leads society. And being at the edge of the market before it truly becomes mainstream is where I think most of us would want to be at. So you might be new to this once-in-a-lifetime crypto-craze, or you might've been around long enough. What's the best way forward now, you might ask? I've always liked easy, minimal guidelines to follow, so here's my top 5 things to do:-
1. Diversify
Cryptocurrencies are all about decentralisation and Bitcoin is not the only game out there. People all around the world are into different things. Sometimes projects slow down, sometimes it gets that rocket boost. So don't put everything into one basket. Spread it out, even if it's like just like $10 for a certain coin. You'll never know if it'll turn out to be $10,000 in a couple of years. Diversify into some non-crypto related stuff as well. Do your research.
2. Futurise
Spend some time studying the future of things: renewable energy, 3D-printing, autonomous consumer drones, sustainable eco-communities, blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and yada yada. Focus on your interests, expand them, and find ways to merge them with the industries of tomorrow. The fact that you're already on Steem is a good move into futurising part of yourself. Some old ideas that couldn't work in the past might very well work in the future. So make your move.
3. HODL
If you have to sell some of your coins to realise some profits, try not to sell the whole lot. Leave some at least. This is a very huge common mistake. Buy low, sell high, or HODL. It works. Personally, I fully expect the market to go to insane levels. We're talking about a huge fundamental shift in how society operates. Cryptocurrencies as a whole could very well surpass beyond $10 trillion in total market capitalisation. But that's just me. I'm very bullish. HODL also means consistent work on your interests, whatever they may be.
4. Reputation
Don't cheat and scam your way into riches, obviously. Other than having others distrust you, it could also damage your own self-perception over the long run. Self-esteem can affect the way you interact with the world. So uphold your principles and integrity. Keep up with your words and spend time building your reputation as a trustworthy collaborator in this new world. Everybody's growing together. Don't leave an opening for others to destroy your reputation.
5. Security
No point trying to capitalise on the rise of cryptos only to get all your cryptos stolen or getting locked out of your precious wallets in the future. Study how to secure your stuff over the long-term and implement whatever suits your style. Don't wait. Do it as soon as possible. Also try not to rely on 3rd parties if possible, but that's up to your assessment if the 3rd party is trustworthy. I'd personally try to avoid if possible.
Nice info mate cheers!...i personally only put about 20% into crypto and have slowly but surely been building a nice portfolio over the last year or so....
Your top alt-picks? :)
Been on EOS since day 1, litecoin, streamr, ripple, Bitshares IOTA , powerledger ...how about you?
Forgot to get back into BTS.. i'll probably wait out for a while on that.
Other than that: STEEM, ETH, EOS, IOTA, LISK, MYST, CFI, TAAS, BCAP, ICN, ETHOS, SAN, LISK, PLR, SALT, ART, DAT, COSS, BCPT
Sweet, a few of them I haven't heard of but will be doing a bit of research tonight, cheers again! , oh I am giving mining a crack to with that smartcash, I like the whole idea behind that....
Just wish there are good analytics tools to ascertain there are actual activities going on with any projects. That'd certainly help with evaluating whether or a project is worthy to invest in.
I highly suggest looking into OMG and TenX Pay as a backup. I have 6x more OMG than TenX, but both are going to be darlings of 2018 in my opinion. They're competitors, although OMG is more for the Asian market at this point while TenX is working on more of a global footprint. Both offer a solid solution for crypto adoption to the masses.
I bought into Monaco ico last year and have held those so I kinda stuck with them over tenx...omg does look like a winner
Hmm will wait for something to be working first! I'm generally a little bit more wary of erc20 stuff since the craze this year lol
Oh I lived through that and am glad it gave me thick skin for the future. Buying when people are afraid is often where the most of the profit potential is, while reducing risk because the price points are lower before the major volatility from mass adoption.
Beautifully said.
I have seen many unhappy rich people.
I have seen many egotistical rich people who are very scared once their health started to fail.
We see some celebrities who attain, "it all", only to fall in a heap, as a result of lack of substance.
Don't deceive for wealth short cuts. You need to look back at the person in the mirror!
Reminds me of an MJ song :)
Awesome writing a mix of poetry and good advices. We are definitely riding an awesome wave right now, and I for one feel very blessed to have caught it.
Because while some complain that they wish they would have bought bitcoin or whatever under 10 dollars, I don't think like that, I am thankful I have found out about it right here right now because this is just the beginning.
Further more I do believe in diversifying as well. Don't need to be much but plant some seeds here and there. Remember the keys but then forget about them for a while and let them grow while you are busy enjoying good posts as this one on Steemit !
Waiting for a good app that can diversify stuff easily, hoping that ethos.io will be such a thing! Looking at the market it's really best to cast a net for "types" instead of picking out winners..
I agree with the casting net approach. I definitely always try to find the main future use case for it and what it can actually do and change. While any altcoin was unique in the beginning now it's important to set apart I think
Diversification is a huge key to stability in a speculative market beginning. So having Alts as well as Bitcoin and all it's (Continuing) derivatives, continues the growth cycle as a hedge. When the currencies drop the Alts can rise and vice versa.
Still learning about the markets as usual. But most of the times too indecisive and I just end up holding everything without much trading lol
I for one I usually access things and start small then grow. I won't deny it, am not a guru in crypto and tech but am learning and so far I just don't want to do more than my capability. I just stay, watch and learn.
Steem is quite low but I still feel it would br better soon. That is why am still here mining. I have learnt not to pursue money so hard, it might keep running while you pursue. But to watch and learn the different strategies of money then one can use it to make that money.
Reputation makes a man. No one wants his dented. I have learn here to keep a good and well reputation. Money might go but the reputation built can always open doors for more wealth.
Thank you for sharing.
It's a contradictory thing, going actively after money might work for some, but i think for most it's almost like a side-effect of being trustworthy and infectious about their work
That's true kevin... you are right about going after money. Then which ever works for us, its best we stick with it.
@kevinwong i really appreciate what you have shared.
Especially the first one on diversity. Am trying to get something from here steemit and invest it into animal farming.
I thought it was some other farming at first, but animal farming?
Yes, rearing domestic animals can also be called farming. I love animals.
@kevinwong, Firstly told you that nice video sharing of sun-shining to the planet and also nice explanation of "What on Earth is Happening?" Perfect writing with mixing terrific poetry and instructions. You feel my heart feeling about nature. I really love to the nature and always try do adventures of environment.
Anyways you introduced great 5 ways "What's the best way forward" I really appreciated you bcoz I haven't known these 5 steps before. You gave example for cryptocurrency blockchain for this explaining.
All of crypto modules in decentralized platform. We can't before telling what's coin worth increasing or more profitable? Any coins has some risky. " Without risky no important investment". I think you heard before this quote. These days SBD, Steem and BTC increase worth level. Especially BTC worth. But we can't predict it will be more rising. May be dip again. Bets thing is we need to market research and then select best invest module.
For in future, need our past experience for more successful work. Use brand new technology. Currently most of network systems, more comfortable Eco systems has. So keep step forward.
Others things are same. Most important need to secure our money. So do the needful for secure our money. Currently use cashless transactions. All of doing trough our online accounts. Lot of hackers here. Very easy task for hack our accounts then . No need more time. So keep password securely keep it safe places and don't show others.
No need to do worst activities, if do happened bad reputation for us. If we doing all of 5 steps you given, we can keep going successfully. Absolutely great title. resteemed.
Thanks @madushanka I really enjoyed writing this piece. It was supposed to be a long story but i cut it short and added the 5 tips lol. As for the cryptos, I think the money only can go so far. It has to translate to utility at some point, and people need to experience the technology. This is why I think Steem has very high potential :)
So far I am 100% steem, but believe it or not this old dog is looking into diversifying.
Do it.. it's half the fun in cryptos :)
I am starting to watch other cryptos and eventually will invest. Learning to see which have the most potential. Also looking at cryptos with cool logos, haha.
Now there is a good advice
Not like certain people who call themselves investors but only buy coin when they are rising and sell once there is a blood bath.
Saw a quote at @tojukaka facebook timeline and fell in love with it
He said
At first it sounded funny to me but that's the simple truth
Buying btc when it is pumping might lead to bankruptcy
Some investors have forgotten that the bitcoin price affects other coins.
Are there people still doing this? It's like the worst thing to do ..
Yeap
They still exist 😂
@kevinwong - Your 5 points are akin to the 10 commandments! Very valid and very helpful for crypto newbies like me. I am constantly in a dilemma on whether to take profits or HODL. I, therefore, have left my small investment be as it is for the time being and am focusing on my main passion - Wildlife awareness blogs on Steemit. Hope I am able to make a difference and grow with Steemit as the platform grows, Thanks
Upvoted.
I request you to provide feedback on my blogs whenever you get a chance. It will encourage me to keep doing better. Thanks

@vm2904
5 Great mottos to live by, well written and something I will likely come back to. These 5 things are of the utmost importance. Great piece bud.
tip!
Thanks @jasonshick, lemme know if there are stuff you'd like to see more of. Appreciate the kind words and the tip!
I think more of what you are writing about now would be good. It is very important for as many readers as possible to see posts like this. Keep it up
always aiming for trending material, but trying to spice things up a little. thanks for the kind words :)
Exceptional post @kevinwong.
You really hit home with me on #2. I consider myself a bit of a futurist/technologist and started studying technology about 8 years ago. It is amazing what you can foresee once you do this. There are so many society-changing technologies coming down the road that people are going to be amazed. The thing is it occurs at warp speed.
Cryptos are just one of many. 3D printing holds incredible promise and, ultimately, quantum computing will radically shift everything. While some ideas still are far off, it is good to understand then at this point....they will be here.
Thanks for posting this.
It's most fun field imo. Actually one reason why I think cryptos will be big is that it wasn't something that any futurist/technologists saw coming before. Well not many have expressed such a thing anyway. So far I've only came across a book in 1997 titled "The Sovereign Individual" that expected something like Bitcoin, very interesting book since the authors obviously understood the information society and how it's gonna change things. So i think it's a good sign it's something truly transformative. As for eco-green, 3d-printing stuff, still a long ways off but i think it'll definitely be mindblowing stuff
I just wrote an article about yourself and the projections you made here...including your $10T market cap.
Linked your article too along with your username to give you full credit.
3D printing is making great strides...I think 2019 will be the year that enjoys a massive explosion...2020 the latest.....a number of recent breakthoughs tell me they are getting closer to moving from prototype to production level....I give them another 12-18 months to work out the kinks and they will be ready for primetime in my view.
As usual very practical advice. Crypto still a very low percentage of my portfolio. But I have learned so much about crypto here and now I feel more confident about investing in crypto.
Thanks for this tips @kevinwong. If I have a capital for cryptos, I should invest as possible.. I witnessed the price hike of bitcoin.. huhu.. It made me cry realizing that i don't have any amount invested in crypto world.. Cryptocurrency is future... Crypto world is a good opportunity for us students, but the sad fact is that we don't have money to invest...
5-10% is good to start, but don't take my word for it, i'm not a financial expert :) or just use this platform, study it, and see how you can contribute to improve it etc. Have fun!
Thank you anyway :) I will.. I see future also here on steemit..
Laying outside under a tree loking up at the sky taking it all in with the sun and breeze on your skin is a fantastic way to live in the now my friend! Loved hearing that. You've given some wonderful points that all should take advice from. Good stuff grounding me and keeping me on my toes as this whirlwind ramps up. Thanks for that! Enjoyed.
Excellent advice. I am finally getting to a point where they make a little sense to me. Going to check out your watch list. Hope you are well!
This is some sound advice right here. . # 2 and # 3 are my favorite.
HODL= Investing
Trading=Gambling
Thanks for sharing bro-man!
Just what I've been pondering about throughout the day today and I see your post about it here! :O
Got a feeling ETH might reach 600 in a couple of months or sooner!
In a market consumed by greed I think reputation is not on a lot of people's minds but it's definitely an investment in the future ( pun intended :). Thank you again for the ninja visits, really apreciate it.
Everything you said was on point 100% and to top it off that beat was fire as hell
Still hunting for more beats like that, perfection, lol
@kevinwong I've diversify my investments but as time goes by I am getting more confidence in my decisions.
I upvoted your post.
I noticed a big shift of how the mainstream media covers bitcoin particularly this year. What changed?
Critical mass-belief and more folks already have their skin in the game? I mean although govs are saying they wanna ban, regulate it, etc, I'm pretty sure anyone in institutions would have already hedged on it themselves.
Hi @kevinwong! You have received 0.1 tip SBD + @tipU upvote from @jasonshick :)
@tipU - send tips by writing tip! in the comment, get share of the service profit :)
hey @kevinwong ,,,,
very very wonderful video and Super intelligent post, thank you for taking the time to create and share. love to read you post.but these kind of posts do make it easier, followed and upvoted.
Great job brother.
We have to follow the time, what is the time need, etc
I like it your post @kevinwong
excellent video the sun is behind the tree leaf
I say anything works besides the dollar hhahaaaaa upvoted great post
I personally only put about 15% in encryption and be slowly but surely a decent balance was built over the last year
very nice suggestions indeed and i also like to mentioned that when investing in cryptos only invest the money which you can afford to lose because their is a risk involved in it and also try to invest by doing some research and try to verify it first that it is a legit and trusted coin, thanks for sharing such nice suggestions with us, Stay awesome.
I don't thrust to the crypto any more. They are tojan horse this is what crypto is
Like your approach, you are sharing good information, keep it up.
Nice information
Thanks for the tips! Its pretty amazing to see how much the market has changed over the past year. Getting into the alt market there were just so many options at the beginning all with really great ideas. I think the reputation is really important in determining where to put your money.
let breath and enjoy the flat earth life haha
