Good post which makes plenty of sense.
I have been writing about information and communications technology for various publications for 23 years now and when I see how people have become so glued to their smartphones and know them backwards yet do not know how to wire up an electrical cable to a plug properly, it kind of gets me worried for the future generation.
I recently have made a conscious effort to spend less time on my PC and fix some broken things around the house.
Somewhat semi-retired, I set up a blog in 2012 to rant and rave about my feelings about the hype, hoohah, BS and ballyhoo by ICT industry boosters, new media CON-sultants and cyberutopians.
As John Perkins said, "If you're retired, you cannot be fired".
