Here’s how to create more (Steemit) content

About time management

I have to confess something.

I have a lot of different skills I want to learn. But that’s a good thing right?

Yeah. Well, if I would use my time to learn them.

See right now I tend to waste a lot of time on meaningless tasks. Not moving me forward.

That’s changing now.

I might have found some practical way to pull it off. Holy f, he’s telling me his magic secret!!! Haha. No. There are no “holy methods”, “secrets” or any of that.

Just something I picked up somewhere and thought I would share with you.

So you got started on Steemit.

All excited, signed up. Now what? Create content of course!

But about what? And how?

There’s no way I will be able to write one post a day.

You don’t have to. Well, you don’t have to post it.

Writing should be done daily.

Questions over questions. I would be lying if I said I don’t think about Steemit content creation 24/7. Yeah right… No seriously. A large portion of my time is thinking about possible articles. At the moment.

The process of coming up with ideas can be quite, hm let’s call it funny.

Wait, what?! You didn’t publish that many articles on here.

I know. I know.

There is this huge list of possible articles that I need to write. Finally got enough free time on my hands to take this on.

But how?

Urgh another question. Leave me alone.

Alright.

On to some practicality.

So you got your list. This huge never ending list of stuff you want to write about. Pour your heart and soul into.

Never ending? Are you for real? I don’t have such a nice list. Where do you find one?

Well, you don’t need endless ideas for now. It’s okay.

I’m sure you can come up with one if you think about it.

Last night before falling asleep? Under the shower? No? Doesn’t matter, they will come.

Here’s the "trick".

Schedule your writing time.

Put it in your calendar. Yes, for real.

You are the CEO of your life. These are important meetings scheduled with yourself. Your creative writing department needs you.

Bosses don’t cancel.

Habit enforcement has to be done daily. And if you schedule it you are more likely to do it. Really do it.

Have a block of time allocated to writing.

2-4 hours after waking up is the best time for your brain. Where you can do deep thinking, learning, practicing.

Now there might be your work getting in the way.

That’s fine.

Other times work just as well.

You might be able to come up with ideas during your commute to work though.
Instead of listening to music, why don’t you listen to your mind. Changing stuff up a bit.

I’m not stupid enough to think you can sit down and force creativity. Or inspiration. Better yet, sit down, throw some money at it and you have innovation. Disruptive technologies… I call BS.

But, what I’m proposing is to try it out.

Once you start writing the words will just pour out of you. Like they did in this article. They appear.

Getting started is where it’s at.

So to ensure that you start you set up a block of time in your calendar dedicated to writing.

This time can be used to write about ideas you already have. Engage your creative juices and produce something.

If it sucks so what? You don’t have to publish it, like I said.

Only recommendations.

What do I know? Just an average writer sharing some thoughts. But, this habit should increase my writing skills. Not too bad heh? Well, it didn’t harm me so far that’s for sure. I hope.

Nothing to lose here.

A little investment in yourself never killed anybody. I refrain from making satiric, ironic, not thought out comments on this.

This works on any habit you want to pick up. Or skill you need to master.

This is a commitment. More than a mere wish in your head.

Want to read? Schedule it!
Go to the gym? Put that in your calendar!
Learn to code? Allocate block time!

Try it out.

My little message – the holy secret !!!- to you.

See how it works for you and let me know.

Stay awesome and don’t fail to create!

TL;DR
Allocating block time to the tasks you want done helps tremendously. Schedule them and put it in your calendar. You are more likely to follow through.

I'm having a problem with time management on here.

My time management issue is relate to spending to much time reading others Steemit posts.

Great article! Exactly what I've been looking for. Makes me feel not alone in this strange new world!

I work full time with my own company doing my day to day task so setting aside a few extra hours to write on steemit is pretty tough :(

Loved the post though :)
