Free Agency

How marvelous that we should be,
And conscious of eternity,
Yet fettered by mortality,
And caught up in frivolity.

As young and eager spirits grow,
Embracing that which doth engage,
So choosing what and who to trust,
Yet knowing we'll return to dust.

And as the journey takes its toll,
On all who make this life their goal,
Possessions and infatuations,
Mature at first, yet come to naught.

So fear and loathing grip the mind,
Vacuity engulfs the soul,
The portent of the silent grave,
Deranges meaning day by day.

For those who wend the higher way,
Envisioning a brighter day,
The prospect of an endless night,
Is not a thought they have to fight.

Through faith and hope and charity,
We build a grand eternity,
And even if we're all but right,
Our living will be warm and bright.

For hope and meaning do enthrall,
Without them we are, oh so small,
And if we come to see the light,
A wondrous future is a might.

And so my children, choose this day,
Whom and what ye shall obey,
For as you sow so shall ye reap,
And what you choose, that shall ye keep.

Amazing work! This is such a breath of fresh air to read something with such depth, quality, and substance.

Ooooo gosh! I love how you put this;-

As young and eager spirits grow,
Embracing that which doth engage,
So choosing what and who to trust,
Yet knowing we'll return to dust.

This peotic sentence got me in the heart;-

Yet knowing we'll return to dust.

So true it is Baby.

Ooooo mine o minel Oboy, woww. Who are you Dearie? You are so good Baby! Wow;-

And as the journey takes its toll,
On all who make this life their goal,
Possessions and infatuations,
Mature at first, yet come to naught.

And this last paragraph nailed the point home Dear;-

And so my children, choose this day,
Whom and what ye shall obey,
For as you sow so shall ye reap,
And what you choose, that shall ye keep.

Great content Sweetheart! Keep steeming.

Flattery goes a long way, despite what they say.

Thank you.

No words! Beautiful

very beautiful words, please follow me back @ikasuwita

You praise me when I sing
You can take away all I have
You love me with all Your heart
You can tear my life into pieces
But You do not hurt me
You don't so I can understand
That I have free agency
I can choose what's best for me

Thank you kindly :)

Bonito post, genial las fotos. Buenos días.

I love to read your nice poems. I'm glad if you want to see the poem I posted in my Steemit.

A very important principle brought to vivid life through poetry. You are very talented @graviton!

Thank you Sir. You are too kind :)

Truly excellent. Not just because of the wonderful craftsmanship of words, but also the wisdom behind them. My favorite paragraph is the last, especially the final sentence.

"And what you choose, that shall ye keep."

What is free will without this? Divorced from consequences, agency is an illusion. Well articulated. Thank you.

A much appreciated response, showing insight and adding value.

Obliged :)

Sometimes I am looking for guidance, sometimes warning, sometimes inspiration, sometimes support for that which I am mourning. I got it all in one stop here, thank you. Best.

Interesting ! Thank you :)

"As young and eager spirits grow,
Embracing that which doth engage,
So choosing what and who to trust,
Yet knowing we'll return to dust"

This part of your poem, was probably the most engaging for me.
I've never seen in such a short amount of words someone summarize the cycle of life so truthfully. I seem to always find joy in writing that I can genuinely relate too, not in terms of enjoyment but in terms of applicability.

Loved the poem and OH! so true.

Much appreciated Sir :)

Like the images and the poetry. Great work!
