Welcome guys to a short adventure story every now and then with Ruben the Bard.
Let’s dive right into it. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy!
It’s cold outside. Your feet are freezing as you make your way through a thick layer of snow heading towards the next town in the north. Slowly your body starts to feel exhausted and it’s getting dark by now. Time to find a shelter fort he night. As you walk around a small group of trees, a glimpse of light falls in your eyes. A tavern in the middle of nowhere! A little smile arises and you hurry to get out of this nasty and cold night.
As you grab the bronze doorknob of the heavy wooden door you already feel warmth and you can hear damped voices from the inside. You open the door and enter the tavern. A gust of wind blows snow inside and your coat flutters around your feet.
A few faces look up to check for the newcomer but mind their own business after a brief moment. Lively discussions and laughter lies in the air.
You make your way to the bartender. The friendly looking old man welcomes you and immediately offers a fresh mug of dark beer. As you look around you notice a larger group gathering around a guy with a big hat decorated with colorful feathers. The man in the middle stops his speech as he notices you.
"Greetings traveler! Take a place near the fire and enjoy your drink! I've just started another story so you haven't missed anything. Come close and let me take you on a journey. By the way, my name is Ruben the Bard. I always appreciate a coin or two. The storytelling makes me always thirsty my friends!"
He laughs and his voice was so deep you nearly felt your chair shacking.
"But now back to business. Where was I?"
Ruben's deep wrinkles appear on his forehead and he seems to focus really hard to remember the plot. After a few seconds his face brightens.
"Ah yes, now I remember ... Our next story is a about a lonesome traveler and everything starts in a cold night like today..."
