"Shogun" is the first one that came to my mind. I loved the way the story goes from misjudging an unknown culture and helps the reader comprehend it. I am from Romania (Europe) and I didn't know much about Japanese culture. Shogun reveals a way of living, of thinking while presenting a piece of history.
