Tonight

in #writing7 years ago

Tonight is like every other night. The sky is lit, the birds have gone to roost, the crickets chirp, and the toads lay mating. Tonight is like every other night, but my soul is empty, my heart is in pain. Tonight isn't like every other night. I yearn for my love, and suddenly I feel distant. Distant from the truth, the truth that I know not. Tonight is one of many other nights, with a twist to it; The dance of fate, the sting of death... She was laid to rest.

Tonight, my soul has wandered all 12 seas, above and below the Fates yarn. I feel incomplete. Nay, I am incomplete.

Tonight, I sit on Earth's crust, while she lays in Gaia's bosom. I was late, like I always am... Bargaining a minute more, I lost sight of Sight. Sight that was time.
Tonight, I cry, more than anything, with heavy heart, to bring back time. Time that was her.
My selfishness has brought my doom and has tossed me in a labyrinth of darkness; a whirlwind of emptiness.

Oh my love! As I lay beside you on earth, I swear my solemn oath to bargain a minute less, to cast myself upon the shores of thy embrace once more.
Tonight isn't like every other night. Nay, it is one of many other nights, that has passed and those that are yet to come. Tonight, I beckon my farfetched sleep with a bottle of rum as I await the 25th hour of my miserable existence, the night on a replay.
