The couple at the table had a distinct air of entitlement and maybe a little bit of something worse. But David wasn't new to the industry so he plastered on his most welcoming smile and walked over to greet them.
“Good evening, welcome to-”
“Send someone else.” The man said with a sneer.
“Pardon?” David replied, his smile frozen in place.
“You heard me. We don't want you anywhere near our food.” His date seemed to agree.
How bizarre, thought David. Could it be that they were prejudiced against…extremely good-looking people? He saw himself in the mirror every morning, and not a damned thing was wrong with him.
“Suuuuuuurrrre. Just a sec.” He said, smiling just as brightly as he signaled to the other waiter on the shift. Maybe the new guy would fit whatever criteria might make them comfortable. Even if that weirdo loved spitting in food for some reason.

And so ends another freewrite that I didn't submit on the day the prompt was given. It happens. I just figured I'd post it afterward anyway. What was it about David that the couple hated? I left that unspecified on purpose. It could be so many different things to so many different people, but in a world where we can focus on differences, it's good to remember how much we all have in common. As carbon-based lifeforms. Clinging to the same moist rock. In space.
