A couple of good places for writing -- the story you followed of mine is in the Freewriters community, where there is a prompt meant for daily writing. I use "five-minute" as a lower bound of time for that writing, but it is meant to help writers at all levels just get into the habit of writing every day, even if it is just five minutes. Weekly there are also two microfiction opportunities called Zapfics as well!

If you like English Literature type of things on the G-rated side, try Ink Well -- heavy duty literature but wild side allowed in Scholar and Scribe. If you like worldbuilding of fantasy and science fiction type, try the Worldbuilders community. Ink Well has a weekly prompt, and I think Worldbuilders is daily. And finally, if you love humor, Comedy Open Mic is where you will find some of the funniest writing on Hive!
