Ever wondered why some people, maybe a very few ones, keep creating such awesome posts on steemit while you always struggling to write/paint/capture...?
That is because what they consume is far better than what you do
Creativity is not something that appears out of nowhere.
What one reads, watches, observes, from good, bad or boring places and situations, translates into what one creates.
It's all about interactions!
Your interactions with others human beings, your interaction with yourself;
your interactions with comfortable surroundings - home, car, office;
and your interaction with out-of-comfort surroundings - traffic jams, that irritating collegue, radically different opinions.
All bear an impact on your output.
Which interaction bears a bigger impact on your creative output is determined by the level of consumption
For Example -
A writer is most likely to write about social issues and politics, if he has been watching daily news (or Facebook) a lot.
A painter is likely to paint a natural landscape if he/she travels to such places a lot.
A GoT fan musician is definitely going to try and practice it's theme song, specially while it's new season is running.
So, how to improve creative output?
It is absolutely fine to create GoT theme song or a natural landscape.
But
What if you could create much more, much better and unique.
What if you write about the psychology behind that political move and correlate with similar actions and results from the history?
What if you paint that colorful market that led to the beach?
What if you study the notes and define what makes GoT music so noteworthy. If you were given a concept of such a show, what would you have created? Heck! create an alternative GoT theme song (but don't ask for opinion from the fans)
All it takes is OBSERVATION!
And like every good thing, you become better at it with practice.
So, What are you consuming these days??
Let me know what are your creativity triggers in comments.
