RE: Happy and Healthy 'NEW YEAR' to ALL

in #writing5 years ago

I was thinking of getting an electric heating pad for the stray cat outside and put under some kind of shelter I'll build. (It's too afraid of my cat to come into the house and warm up, but I can tell he wants to.) It'll be below freezing here soon, we've been lucky so far.

I don't want to find the poor guy frozen like I did another cat last year; I caught hell digging the hard dirt deep enough to bury it.

You are in my thoughts. Stay well.

I used a heating pad for two winters, you gotta check, mine kept turning itself off after two hours and I'd have to turn it back on.
This blanket is much better for me, but for a cat a heating pad would do the trick.

That turning off after two hours might be a safety feature, so you don't cook
Yeah, I'll have to build a base to slip the pad under for the cat so he won't shock himself if he decides to scratch and pull on it.

That safety switch is for old folks, so they don't fall asleep and wake up done on one side.

A dog i would worry about tearing it up, but a cat should be ok.
Just be sure it is ground faulted.
A couple old pillow cases, or a sheet, and some stitches should work.
I'd think.

Most important is getting out of the wind and the wet.
I feel for the neighbor dog, she didn't have a house for two winters.
Some people shouldn't have pets.

I've had to intervene a couple of times around here with neighbors maltreatment of their dogs. I have pics on my phone about one of these dogs, that I'll probably use in a future post about it.
