My First Rejection Letter From a Publisher! I Ain't Even Mad, This is a Milestone.

in #writing6 years ago

When I began approaching publishers, I took it for granted it would be a long and tedious process with many rejections. So I'm not about to get discouraged so soon. Different publishers prefer different styles, just like people have their own "type" they like to date. Rejection in either case doesn't necessarily say anything about quality.

So, that's Tartarus Press off the table. Erasherhead will take until the 31st to get back to me, as per the submission guidelines on their website. Then there's Rainfall Books and Elder Signs Press. Of those, I have the highest hopes for Elder Signs Press. Still though, even if they all reject me, I won't be stopped.

Every great author today has a drawer full of rejection letters someplace which do not trouble, but amuse them. All the publishers who passed up on what became a highly profitable literary sensation, for one reason or another. I'll just file this rejection email away then, for future enjoyment.

Now, if I'm still getting only rejection letters five years from now, something will be terribly wrong and in need of correction. But as yet, events are proceeding within expected parameters. I will keep you guys updated on what the other publishers think of my work, as I hear from each of them.

Stay Cozy!

Good luck. Maybe the next one will publish your book.
You are an inspiration.....to accept rejection as a part of the process and continue to be positive.

Congrats. It's all about moving forward. Putting the work out there. Power to it.

Rejection give you good learning experience and motivation. In my 2 cent opinions rejection is a path which ended up in a success. So wish you all the best for the publication of your work. keep sharing @alexbeyman

I hope you be patient. we always experience it like that. me in making a journal send or copy the same thing. but the phenomenon of a writer. good luck bro alex. success

It's great that you're not letting the rejection get to you. They probably rejected you because you're too good for them. Anyways, there are more fishes in the sea, and it's unwise to cry over a spilled milk. Life goes on.

Is g8 you have embraced yourself and is motivated by the intances already, they say when the going gets tough only the tough gets going, go for it, you will surely reach there

That was still a "nice" rejection letter. It was positive in a way

There's an art gallery somewhere in the world that has one piece of Andy Warhol related stuff. Its the original rejection letter they sent him back in the day.

That's a good attitude to have, man. Just keep submitting and you'll get there eventually for sure. Hopefully much sooner than later :)

Doesn't matter dude.
Your work is awesome, I love your writing.
You will get your work published some day.

It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there in the first place. Congrats on your first rejection and good luck in the future.

Good job on your commitment to keep going and not get discouraged.

Having read a fair majority of your work, I believe you tap into some truly great subconscious elements, particularly with regards to horror. Most of your writing is truly stellar, in my opinion, especially in the details you fill in with world building and internal consistency.

Keep at it, and I have every confidence you will find a publisher that can work with you productively. I encourage you to be open to their feedback when it comes, and be willing to make at least some changes, as they are far more likely to understand what will be commercially successful.

Cheers!

I MUST SUCCEED

“To ward off a feeling of failure, she joked that she could wallpaper her bathroom with rejection slips, which she chose not to see as messages to stop, but rather as tickets to the game.” – Anita Shreve

Never forget about 50 Shades of Grey. Getting published is enormously about luck. If you can write, you can get published. You just have to keep knocking at doors, over and over and over, until it happens.

If I got rejected by a publisher, I would just poop in a box and send that as another manuscript for them to look over. I've been told I tend to go overboard when I get rejected so good on you for being positive.

I hope you get a favourable answer from Erasherhead and the other publishers.

I love the way you handled the rejection news.
Stay Cozy too

@alexbeyman glad you're taking it in good faith. You only need one acceptance for that big break, cant wait to see that happen soon

Go get em tiger!

That happens even in music like with The Beatles décadas ago, or with Harry Potter, even Twilight (lolz). In any case you only need to keep trying as you say. :)

Alex keeps knocking on doors, when they give you the opportunity, believe me you'll impress them

Soon you will achieve it.

This is Alex not because of a rejection you have to give up, now is when you have to go ahead and without doubting your work that I know you are very greetings and good luck I hope you have a positive response.

@alexbeyman is the best thing you can do is save that mail because looking at it every time will inspire you to improve and think about some mistake made, but always be sure of yourself because you have a lot of talent and you really deserve an opportunity, since here in steemit the whales have a lot of doubt whether to continue here in steemit.

See you later and I hope you continue to inform us if any editor gives you the opportunity to show him who you are.

wow your story is very nice and beautiful, or with Harry Potter, even Twilight (lolz). In any case you only need to keep trying as you say. Thank you for this post sharing boss @alexbeyman

most wishes and prayers you have here @alexbeyman are jus to promote their own feed...
