No Mercy Championship Wrestling presents “Rage in the Cage”
Location: St. Louis, Missouri, Venue: Scottrade Center
William Regal's music hits to a huge pop. Regal and Rousey both come out and announce that they have determined that every match tonight will be contested in Hell in a Cell matches. Rousey states that Iveliesse Velez will take on the young up and comer Deonna Purazzo. Regal announces the King of Pancrase and UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock will face the behemoth Hanson and another wrestler well versed in MMA, Rezar. Rousey chimes back in stating Mickie James will face Marti Belle. Regal rounds out the announcement with Cody Rhodes taking on the debuting Jay Lethal and Baron Corbin.
In a backstage area, Deonna Purrazzo is with one of the interview personnel. Upon being asked her thoughts about competing inside The Cell, she says she hasn't done it before and though she is only 22, she is not someone to be underestimated. Iveliesse interrupts and tells Deonna she should be ready for the fight of her life because she (Iveliesse) will turn her (Deonna) every way but loose.
Queen of the Cage Qualifier: Iveliesse Velez vs. Deonna Purrazzo
Purrazzo goes straight into a Thez Press. Velez is able to get out and goes right to work on Deonna. In a brief moment, Velez sees Purrazzo's hand on the mat while she is trying to recover. Velez steps on Deonna's fingers, potentially causing at least two of them to break.
Almost exclusively using her left, she goes for a series of strikes and kick. The fight does go to the outside though. Velez uses virtually every inch of the cell to her advantage. Beaten down, bloody, and bruised. Velez locks in the guillotine choke to get the victory and advance to the finals.
Winner: Iveliesse Velez by submission
The action dies down and we cut to a backstage segment. Ronda Rousey is being interviewed backstage.
Interviewer: So Ronda, you must be pretty pleased with that first match.
Rousey: Well, I can't say I entirely condone some of the things Iveliesse did, but she came out on top. And as for Deonna, she fought. All you can ask. She might have come up short this time, but I think the future is bright for her.
(Enter Iveliesse)
Iveliesse: "You know Ronda, I'm not feeling this. I went through hell out there are you're here talking about a loser like Deonna Purrazzo. Oh yeah, she "fought". (in mocking tone) Poor wittle Deonna! She can't e..(interrupted by Purrazzo)
Deonna: Can't what? You know what, hold that thought. Ronda, I want another shot at Iveliesse!
Ronda: As much as I appreciate your enthusiasm Deonna, you need to get your hand checked out to make sure just what the damage is, okay? We can talk about another shot later. (Ronda and Deonna exit, Iveliesse sarcastically waves them off)
King of the Cage Qualifier: Ken Shamrock vs. Hanson vs. Rezar
Shamrock and Hanson make their respective entrances, but Ethan Carter III attacks Rezar and shuts the door to the Cell. Ethan Carter III destroys Rezar at ringside, throwing him into the side of the cell, Carter takes Rezar to the top of the ramp and power-bombs Rezar off the stage and to the floor.
Going back to the ring, we see Shamrock and Hanson having a knockdown, drag-out brawl. Hanson gets an upper hand, giving an Irish whip followed up by a bull-rush to Shamrock in every corner but the last one, where Shamrock gives a stiff forearm. Shamrock then hits a leg sweep and proceeds to go to work on Hanson's tree trunk of a leg. Hanson manages to get off a stiff clothesline that sends Shamrock flying. Hanson stalks his opponent like a lion stalks an injured gazelle. Going in for the kill, Hanson is taken off guard. Shamrock jumps up, yells in Hanson's face before giving a stiff kick to the face. Shamrock then goes for his patented ankle lock. After several agonizing seconds, Hanson taps out.
Shamrock looks visibly shaken as he falls to his knees, as if to suggest that he might have a head injury.
Winner: Ken Shamrock by submission
A vignette airs announcing the debut of CWC Competitor Clement Petiot. (in French) “I don’t care who I destroy to get far in this business. Make no mistake a new day will dawn on NMCW. I will show no mercy.”
Backstage interview area:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, my guests at this time: Jake Hager, Ethan Carter III, and Chael Sonnen. Guys, first last week with Chael interfering in your match against The Authors of Pain. Then this week, you Ethan, attacking Rezar before his King of the Cage qualifying match tonight. The only question I can ask is: Why?"
Chael: "First off, a lesson I learned not only in UFC but even on The Celebrity Apprentice...you have to try win by any means necessary."
ECIII: "And as far as what you saw tonight goes, I did it because I wanted to."
Interviewer: "So why is this team even together? What's the appeal?"
Hager: "Chael and I are old buddies and when he came to NMCW, I was the first person he talked to. And Ethan? Well, another guy that WWE was too incompetent to use properly, I naturally wanted to bring him into the fold. We are the All-American Dynasty and we are here to stay."
Sonnen: "Haven't you heard? It's 20Chael. And I'm taking these boys straight to the top of NMCW." (the team departs goes to depart, but fans hear a familiar voice)
Jim Cornette: “Now wait just a minute, you dumb sumbitch.”
(loud cheers from the crowd)
Cornette: “Now I saw what went down last week and I must say the Authors of Pain are under new management. (cheers get louder) And here’s what I propose: Authors of Pain vs. the All-American Dynasty NEXT WEEK.”
All American Dynasty visibly enraged, storms off while Cornette laughs.
Queen of the Cage Qualifier: Mickie James vs. Marti Belle
Mickie and Marti go to a lock up, but Mickie quickly pushes Marti to the canvas. Marti does get back up and uses a series of slams and shots on the back of Mickie and even tries to lock in the Boston Crab, but Mickie is able to get free and goes on the offensive after taking a brief amount of time to recover. Charged by pure adrenaline, Mickie lands a series of kicks while Belle is a bit delirious, Mickie goes up to the top rope and hits a crossbody. Mickiepicks up Marti, gives her a kiss and hits the Long Kiss Goodnight for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Mickie James by pinfall
Another vignette airs announcing the debut of the War Goddess Ember Moon. It is heavily focused on gladiator combat. Decimating competitor after competitor. Ember finishes off the last person standing and in the blood in the sand it spells out "NMCW beware of the War Goddess"
King of the Cage Qualifier: Baron Corbin vs. Jay Lethal vs. Cody Rhodes
Lethal and Rhodes, go straight for Corbin, but Baron isn't having any of it. He immediately hits Rhodes with a forearm. Lethal tries to get the small package on Rhodes, but Corbin kicks Lethal in the head to break it up. After that, everyone is just beating each other up, each taking the other directly to Hell. Corbin takes Rhodes, gives an Irish whip and Cody goes flying over the rope into the cage. Corbin then takes Lethal, Irish whips and Jay stops at the ropes. Corbin hits a shoulder tackle sending Lethal and Rhodes into the cage. After coming to, Lethal goes straight after Corbin, hitting a missile dropkick. Coming back to the center of the ring, Corbin catches Lethal while trying to go for a clothesline. Corbin goes for the Deep Six, but Lethal counters into the Lethal Injection (pump handle sitout power bomb). Near fall for Lethal. Rhodes comes back and goes right for an enzuiguiri on Corbin. He does the same to Lethal who flies out of the ring. Cody then hits CrossRhodes on Corbin to get the pinfall victory.
Winner: Cody Rhodes by pinfall
Queen of the Cage Finals: Mickie James vs. Iveliesse
The bell rings and the two take a brief amount of time to size each other up. Mickie goes for the first move, but is countered by Velez who goes into a snap German suplex. Also goes for a pin, but James kicks out at one. James and Velez then trade blows, between kicks (both of whom are adept with kicks)neither competitor seems to be able to get the high ground though. Out of pure instinct though, Velez whips James into the corner. She then charges at her hitting a forearm strike. Velez is then able to turn James around and hit the Desert Eagle (sunset flip power-bomb). Iveliesse gets the pinfall victory.
Winner and Queen of the Cage: Iveliesse by pinfall
Iveliesse holds up the title belt, which has "NMCW" in red underneath a crown at the top "Queen of the Cage" right beneath.
JBL: Good on young Miss Velez. Whether you love her or hate or you love to hate her, you can't besmirch her accomplishment, winning two Hell in a Cell matches in one night to be the first Queen of the Cage here in NMCW.
Borash: Well she undoubtedly used some questionable tactics to get here, but congratulations all the same. No idea what might come of the future, but we can promise that we will have an update on our next show for Deonna Purrazzo, who was potentially injured earlier tonight.
A promotional segment airs to announce a match to determine who will face Pete Dunne for the Agon Championship on the first iPPV.
In a backstage area, NMCW Medical Staff (earning their keep, I assure you) are virtually begging Ken Shamrock to not go out there. Even GM William Regal is trying to dissuade him, but the UFC Legend will not be deterred. Shamrock assures that he is fine and still wants to have his match against Cody Rhodes.
King of the Cage Finals: Ken Shamrock vs. Cody Rhodes
Looking uneasy, William Regal brings down the King of the Cage championship belt, which has a crown at the top with "NMCW" at the base. The plates look to be made of actual cage fragments. The belt has "King of the Cage" emblazoned across it.
Shamrock still looks dazed as he makes his way to the ring. After the bell rings, Shamrock and Rhodes lock up in some fairly technical chain wrestling. Shamrock gives an Irish Whip to Rhodes, sending him to the corner. Upon going for a forearm, Rhodes ducks out of the way into an enziguri (spelling). Fairly dazed, Rhodes lands several punches in fairly rapid succession. Shamrock goes for a clothesline, but Rhodes ducks out of the way and goes into a Disaster Kick, but Shamrock manages to stay standing. Rhodes goes right to another Disaster Kick. Cody has a sadistic smile on his face as he picks up Shamrock, violently throws him into the cage and hits the CrossRhodes.
Cody Rhodes gets the pinfall victory
Winner and King of the Cage: Cody Rhodes by pinfall
Rhodes gleefully holds the King of the Cage title belt as the crowd ferociously boos him. Rhodes is virtually laughing at this point (think The Joker in Alan Moore's "The Killing Joke").
JBL: They say inside Hell in a Cell, there are no winners...there are only survivors. And one thing I can tell you for damn sure is both of these men are coming out forever changed.
Borash: But is that change for the better or the worse? Only time will tell. Thank you for joining us tonight ladies and gentlemen. I'm Jeremy Borash...
JBL: And I'm John Bradshaw Layfield. Don't let what you saw here affect your sleep tonight. We'll see you next time here on NMCW.
Steve Blum voice over (if you've ever watched Toonami): "Join us next week for another episode of No Mercy Championship Wrestling. How will the Authors of Pain fare against The All-American Dynasty? Who will step up to face the nefarious Pete Dunne for the Agon Championship?
