Magic animal: similar to Christmas tree

in #worm7 years ago

The depths of the oceans seem to be just grim, deep and fearful, but it is possible to meet very playful animals, which make the depths very sacred.

Meet the Christmas Tree Worm - a stunning little animal whose appearance fully corresponds to its holy name.

The scientific name for this species of worms is Spirobranchus giganteus, and its members are found in subtropical and tropical marine regions around the world, in the coral neighborhood.

Worm-shaped colonies form tubular structures from calcium carbonate, where animals hide from the dangers of the oceans. However, the big holidays begin when they are laced with tubes and these worms are struck in the brightest colors, writes thedodo.com.

Each worm of this species exhibits two brightly colored spiral structures, shaped by tentacles, which collect and filter out food particles flying around. It is these traits that create this exceptional, holy appearance of these animals.

Contrary to the true Christmas tree, named after Spirobranchus giganteus, these worms are distinguished by its longevity. One study reported that these babies can survive for up to 40 years.
