It is very quite unbelievable that it is match day 3 of #Russia2018 already!
The competition is moving very fast and we are enjoying every minute of it!
The host country, #Russia has given us the highest winning margin of 5 goals so far with their win against the oil rich Asian country, Saudi Arabia.
And yesterday we witnessed the best game of the tournament so far with the European giants Spain and Portugal treating us to what some people believed could have easily been a knock-out game and not the group opener, with the match ending in a 3-3 draw. The match with the highest amount of goals scored so far.
And then that man, #CRISTIANO #RONALDO has already taken the #World by storm scoring an hattrick against Spain, singlehandledly dragging his team to secure a point in that match and leading the goal scoring chart including a spectacular free kick
In my opening #Worldcup post found here, I already said we are billed for a lot of surprises and we have quite got some.
Here we go with some surprises and dissapointments of the #Russia2018 so far.
#Hall of surprise
Iran is currently topping a group that has #Spain, #Portugal and #Morrocco and have their first ever win at a World Cup
Ronaldo scored an hattrick against #Spain, the first ever player to do so against the Spanish National team in a FIFA World Cup game
Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea arguably the best goalkeeper in the world committed a goal-keeping blunder a-la Liverpool's Karius against Portugal
Argentina cannot go past an Iceland team that consists of mostly part-time professionals
Barcelona Messi holds the record of the first penalty loss of this world cup that could have secured a win for his team
The Video Assistance Referee (VAR) similar to what is being used in tennis to assist match officials in decision making is being deployed in #Russia2018 for the first time in a #FIFA competition.
And the first beneficiary of that VAR is #France after the referee used that to award a penalty for their opening goal against #Australian, a game they went on to win 2-1.
There has been a total of 21 goals scored so far from 8 games played. Two direct free-kicks, 3 penalty goals, 2 own goal (sadly both against African teams) and a whole lot of brilliant goals and there has been no game that ended goalless
My prediction is on #France to win the showpiece and Paul #Pogba, whom I wrote about here to have a successful outing. He already has a goal and assist for his man-of-the-match display in France win against Australia
The only thing that is quite unfortunate so far is that Nigeria's lost to Croatia and the possibility of a group stage elimination despite the hype of our Jersey (or perhaps Nigeria's Super Eagles is just an overhyped no-case use ICO project!) hahahahahah
But all in all, it has been a wonderful 3 days in Russia already.
The movie continues
Dont worry second match will determine use case.
