GHOST CITY: CHERNOBYL

in #world6 years ago

Worthy of a horror movie, this city suffered a terrible nuclear accident in April 1986, caused by an explosion in one of the reactors at its nuclear power plant, and this is the biggest nuclear disaster history.

The explosion caused in the No. 4 reactor released more radiation than the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki together, to expand throughout Europe and Asia, where Ukraine, Belarus and Russia were the countries that were most affected.

The nearest city, Pripyat was evacuated two days after the explosion, at this time already residents had been exposed to high levels of radiation, which caused them illnesses related to the accident. Many doctors recommended to pregnant women in the area that they abort their children. It was not clear what could be the effects on the fetus to be exposed to such radiation levels. Therefore doctors, before possible malformations or genetic mutations, recommended to women that, if possible, they practiced an abortion.

Since Pripyat was abandoned by its population by high levels of radiation, wolves, wild horses, beavers, wild boars and other animals occupied the city. The animals that live within 30 kilometers that extends the exclusion zone around Chernobyl have high levels of mortality, rare genetic mutations, and low levels of birth.

These i willing to enter this ghost town, currently can be scheduled trips to the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Tourist agencies organize expeditions to the city of Pripyat, which will continue abandoned plutonium needs more than 24 thousand years to cut at least half its intensity.

Such a terrible disaster, but it's also very interesting to read about what happened there in 1986... I wonder how many people actually book that trip, I really do think it's interesting, but I'm not sure if I would want to go there, that depends on how safe it actually is!

In fact I was short to addressing this issue, it is a next post I will try to focus on the consequences of this disaster, thank you for supporting :)
