The world poultry industry has continued to grow in the last seven decades since the end of World War II. The industry has witnessed transformation from the backyard poultry to the sophisticated industry of today. The industry has continued to change in response to animal welfare pressures, technological breakthroughs, economics and consumer demands. Most of the challenges while improving safety and products quality are detrimental to increasing poultry population and output as it were. In responding to the challenges, poultry breeders, nutritionists and management specialists have continued ro play leading roles. The emerging trends/challenges has been more dominanat in the developed countries (with Europe being in the fore front) than the developing countries.
