Business-Minded Moms' Trip to the World Food Expo 2018

I have learned time and time again that when we least plan things, it oftentimes makes a path for you. Take for example this World Food Expo 2018 - Visayas (WOFEX 2018 Visayas) happening at the SM City Trade Halls 1 & 2, running for 3 days from April 12 - 14, 2018. It started with a careless remark of going for a food tasting event and food service training inquiry at SM City Cebu (a mall in Cebu City) because there was a Wofex thing happening there. And so, me and some mom friends from school decided to take some time to visit.

First, we made our way to the queue of business-minded people and curious onlookers and filled out registration forms for the event. We were given our stick-on nametags, some flyers and we were then ushered in. The event is essentially held to showcase outstanding innovations in the food service industry, not only locally but around the world, thus the name World Food Expo, or simply, WOFEX.

There were a lot of demonstrations during our visit there: From cake decorating, coffee brewing, doughnut making, pickling, food preservation and potato fries and wedges cooking. We got to taste a lot of french fries and wedges samples, dips and chips, ice cream, muffins, pancakes, and even beer.

We readily tried drinking upon hearing the benefits presented. The seeds look like little eyes and creeped us a bit, but is actually yummy. Hopefully, one can get used to it. Credits to Hazel Rafaela Cabase for the photo.</sub>

A lot of products and items were also sold at a discount. They are offering significantly lower prices there than what they are currently offering in the market. So if you are thinking of buying a new coffee machine, blender, freezer, chiller, knife sets and other kitchen utensils and baking paraphernalia, whether for personal or business use: head there and check the event out! They will only be doing it until this Saturday though. I heard that during the last day, there will be further discounts for the food items.

There's also a booth called WOFEX University, where one can inquire about classes and trainings offered by the Food Service Industry partners that one can sign up or enroll. I hope that if you're in Cebu City, you can check it out. Happy shopping! And good luck!
