I think you should do an extra slide or two focusing on valuable content and community. Maybe you can show some of your favorite posts. What kept me here wasn't the money or the prospect of making it (god knows I wouldn't put so much time into writing if it were for a bunch of assholes with just the prospect of maybe, potentially making more with it in the future). What I love about here is the amount of people who are idealistic, principled and also realistic, and they want to connect with others, make friends, and collaborate. I think you will get more people coming in with the right attitude if you focus more on this aspect. Who knows what you will bring in if you only focus on the "paid" aspect.
And you are likely to piss some people off (maybe even some professors) with such a blunt critique on the big names in social media. Good! I would talk more about how they profit off sharing our data (though it seems steemit is letting them profit off our data here too as well :-/)
