Sometimes, I post things I hope get a lot of mileage. This is one of those occasions. I wish I could tell everyone at Steemit about my personal experiences with a new witness. It’s not that I have any particular credibility, but then again, firsthand accounts carry weight. I hope that in the end, something I say here will matter.
Shane Welker ( @swelker101) was the first person to greet me all those weeks ago when I randomly dropped into the @minnowsupport Discord group. He was stability in chaos with the patience of a saint. The whole while he talked me through registration, he kept a running comedy show with @GMuxx, greeted other newcomers, and managed a three-ring circus without losing a single monkey. It was awesome.
I watched as Shane became a moderator of the Discord group, created @msp-shanehug, worked with SP delegators, and became a founding member of @sft. He could answer complex questions about crypto and the technology we use with the blockchain, and could make tough administrative decisions without inciting a riot. In other words, he showed us all that he’s a leader.
I don’t know much about the whole witness thing. But I understand this: witnesses are leaders in the Steemit community. They need to be steadfast, reliable, committed, knowledgeable, and able to deal with people. Everything I’ve just written about swelker101 describes him as the ideal witness for our Steemit blockchain.
We enjoy the company and support of several witnesses in the MSP Discord group: MSP founders @aggroed and @ausbitbank, @someguy123, @teamsteem, @thecryptodrive, junior @theprophet0 and honorary @canadian-coconut, plus up-and-comings like @followbtcnews, @netuoso, @reggaemuffin, @drakos, @rondonson, and @swelker101. In my opinion every one of these people deserve more votes. I know most of them personally and have seen nothing but leadership and skill exhibited by all of them.
I know Shane Welker best, though. No, we’ve never met personally. But he has earned my trust and respect. He already has my vote for witness. If you have ever met Shane on Steemit, you’ve probably noticed the same qualities I described. Whether you know him like I do or not, I certainly hope you’ll take the time to vote for his witness. I’m convinced he has the best interests of this entire community at heart.

You're right, but Shane has proven himself through more than comments. He's been there in the MSP chats for a long time and has also come through with real-world actions outside of steem. I have no reason to doubt that he is anything by genuine. And, the great thing about witness voting is that if he should prove to be a bad'un, then I can remove my vote.

Agreed, comments alone mean nothing, there's no doubt about that. But I try to go beyond cheesy lines when helping someone understand the basics of PALnet. I also delegate over half of my SP to other MSP projects, and I try to help in any way that I can if it helps someone get their project running. I don't expect anything in return, but I hope that a few people will pay-it-forward when the time comes and help a new person they run across. In my mind, that's more than just commenting. edit This is @swelker101, I just didn't realize I was in this account when I made the comment.
Do you know @swelker? He is the most generous person with his time as I have ever met, second only to @rhondak. When you have nothing constructive to say, perhaps it is best kept to yourself.
I think I'm missing out a lot because of my time zone and/or my real life work. :( I don't hang around at MSP as often as I would like to.
However I know and adore Rhonda and Gmuxx! And if they say vote for Shane, I have no further doubt in my mind, I extend my vote of confidence for Shane too.
I met Shane once and I remember him being nice and polite and giving me the link for MSP Waves Radio Network when I asked. I have no doubt that he is all that @rhondak and @gmuxx say that he is and more. Voting for your witness @swelker101 wholeheartedly! All the very best! :)

Minnowsupport is growing up by the day. to maintain together so many different people from so many diverse cultures seems like a hard task wich is outstandingly well executed by @swelker101 and all the team of great moderators that are at @minnowsupport
