Witness-Update: Everything is running smoothly

in #witness-update7 years ago (edited)

I've released my last Witness-Update over 14 days ago and thought it's time for a new one.

I'm currently at Rank #48 - which is amazing. And besides that - not much has happened.

Everything is running smooth. No missed blocks.

And I hope it stays like that.

But in the case of missing blocks, I've spend some time into creating a failover script (https://github.com/therealwolf42/witness-failover).

Which has the task of: monitoring for missed blocks. If missed => switch to backup node(s); missed again => disable witness.

The script has been running for the last few days after the release and besides some timeout errors - which happened a few times but were caught in an exception - everything seems good.

However, while I have tested it with other accounts who recently missed blocks - I still have to see if it works in case of emergency.

Now other than that, I've been very busy developing on my own project (I don't want to advertise it here ).

Who am I as a Witness?

And I've also realized one thing:

Every Witness is offering different skills for the STEEM-Ecosystem. While everybody should offer at least a basic amount of knowledge on how to run a secure witness node - some Witnesses are more about the social aspect of STEEM (not me) and some are more focused on the business/app-aspect (me).

I'm not saying that I don't care about the social interaction on STEEM - it's amazing how STEEM works in that area and how many people it connects.

But as an individual - my focus was always about entrepreneurship and the business-side of things and I see huge potential for that on STEEM.

I think I'll create a standalone post about that as well, but thought that it might be nice for you to know - as a reader (and voter) - to know a bit more about me and my intentions!

My Gratitude goes towards all of my Voters

Last but not least: I'm still very very glad that I made the decision to become a Witness.

And I'm extremely grateful for the support I received - so this goes out to all my voters!

Vote for @therealwolf as Witness

Sort:

Rank #48? How did you get that in a short time? Any advice for a new comer on the platform? By the way, I'm your 1452th follower. Any advice/tip would be appreciated a lot. Also, many congrats on achieving this milestone!

A big stakeholder in STEEM decided to vote on me - for which I'm extremely grateful. So you could say - I got a bit lucky :)

Sir, do I know why I have been blocked if I have a crime, please cancel the block

You have been blacklisted due to low-quality posts.

sorry sir next time not use in low quality post please sir cancel the blacklist

this is great, thank you for the time you spend on it! :)

Keep up the Good Work:)

Thank you!

I did vote for 30 witnesses.
but I canceled it.
because the witness did not care about me.
now there are only 5 my witnesses.
you are my witness.
hopefully one day you will visit my block.
and vote to me.
that is my goal from my witness.
thank you my witness @therealwolf

Thank you for your vote @munawire!

You welcome my witness .

Maybe he goes witness by witness threatening to undo the vote if they don't vote for him

Wow, @therealwolf, You're cracking this like a boss. See you in top 25. Very detailed witness report. Impressive work!

I voted for you as a witness, for now, I would love to see a post with a full explanation of your intentions as a witness and what do you do to improve Steem.

Waiting for it :)

@therealwolf Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't even notice. Reading now :)

Hey jakey,

Thank you for the offer! We have currently 5 members in our team that are reviewing users and that should be enough for now. But I keep your offer in the back of my head.

Hi there, love your project. But last week i sent 1 sbd to upvote my post which never happened and i didnt get refunded, would appreciate it if you looked into it :)

Thank you and have you gotten your refund?

I voted for you! I'm not a big stakeholder like the other guy... but I do have a big steak in my fridge. I guess that makes me a steak holder

Thank you for setting up the whitelist on smartsteem.

Voting for you as witness is the best way to express my gratitude.

Edit: I always see you on smartsteem discord answering questions and solving problems, this is another reason I have voted for you!

Ah thank you @prch - really appreciate that!

Nice post

I have chosen you as a witness. because I think you deserve it.
Greetings from Indonesia

Hi @therealwolf, I sent 0.5 SBD to @smartsteem and I received 0.19 SBD in upvotes and a 0.001 SBD refund a few minutes after. I made the transfer through smartsteem.com but it is not showing in my account (when I checked just now). And I cannot read the refund memo because it doesn't show on my phone. Can you please look into it and let me know what is going on? I am whitelisted and it said 2 - 2.5 upvote but you have returned less than I sent you! Thanks. Matt.

The post URL is https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@innervision/how-to-calculate-bitcoin-transaction-fees

It isn't even showing on my smartsteem.com profile :

0.5 - 0.19 = 0.31 SBD LOSS! Can you at least refund the difference?
