#untalented has two contests that are ever-green i.e no deadline.
- UNTALENTED 1.0 "WHO ARE YOU?"
- #untalented 2.0: A Snapshot Of Your Blockchain Before You Joined Steemit Vs A Snapshot Of Your Blockchain As A Steemian.
One reason we started the #untalented curriculum with the above formats of thought-provoking/soul-search/self-development contests, is to playfully-obliviously take us back to how it all began and even back a bit, to 'life before steemit'. Too, so that newer steemians can spot #untalented from day one and instantly feel at home.
It happened with @steemgigs.
i.e newer steemians get on steemit on day-one and didn't know where to start but found out that "everyone has something to offer" and they started out building visions out-rightly, with their very first post, while instantly starting to explore all uses for the steem blockchain, thus, understanding the full beauty of steemit; knowledge that could easily take days, months or never (in rarest cases).
#untalented is a branch of steemgigs.
For instance, newer steemians who just arrived, may not know that they may have to introduce themselves and when they eventually figure this out, they may worry about how good they are as they find themselves in the midst of reputable great minds and these worries may deter them from starting altogether.
#untalented took all this into cognizance during its creation, hence, it has become a good way to direct these new ones, into doing the best of introductory posts.
Really How Powerful Is An Introductory Post?
To understand the answer to this question, you need some history!
In the past, before several hard-forks occurred, to fix these issues, there are people who got on steemit and usurped money before they could be stopped.
At the time, post payouts was after 24 hours.
Basically, someone would come onto steemit, do a top-notch #introduceyourself post, perhaps, impersonate someone and get so much earning on his post. Then, post pays out after 24 hours and he cashes out, even rich.
Note, that some people made thousands of dollars on an introductory post but my point here is:
Yes, a top-notch introductory post can set the pace for your success on steemit, even from day one!
Now, quickly notice something from this same history, that will abate your fears about steemit crashing due to DDOS attacks etc:
The steemit community, witnesses etc came together and decided on ways to avoid such scenarios like happened above and then came a hard fork, that turned posts payouts into a 7 day duration.
Now, if anyone comes in as an impersonator etc, there will be 7 days within the steemit community can stop such one and a life example of that happened after the hardfork; where another #introduceyourself post, earned hundreds of dollars but was found out and down-voted till zero, before payout.
Hey there; "yet another #introduceyourself post!"
Now Let's Go To The Logical Good Part
Sometimes, that simple looking #introduceyourself post, can be the difference between instant steemit success and spending ages to succeed.
Yes, i will go to the past again/let's should stick to now:
There are people who join steemit and hit it running from day one, on their very first #introduceyourself post and it doesn't stop there; it keeps on afterwards!
Let apply little logic just below and "you" tell me if that can happen or not:
Announcing your presence!
Yes, you can shake steemit with your presence from day-one. I tell the girls, "catwalk that walk, let the room halt because your presence filled it"; this is a hefty, weighty, priceless sentence and boy or girl, it applies everywhere and even on steemit!
Look at this scenario:
Yes, if i was a busy steemian (whale, minnow, dolphin etc) and i am met with YOU, in your #introduceyourself post and i am instantly told of a fully-defined, unshaken, deeply-rooted person, whose very presence and substance speaks law, medicine, awesomeness, ICE-CREAM, positivity etc or let's keep it ICE-CREAM (assuming i love ice-cream like crazy but i have not had it in a decade because, the sun in my zone is too hot and the refrigerators keep lose their cool); assuming i was a busy steemian (whale, minnow, dolphin etc) and i am met with a new steemian's INTRODUCTORY POST, i am instantly told of a fully defined, unshaken, deeply-rooted person, whose very presence and substance speaks "ICE-CREAM", e.g the person says this really loud in the post:
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
Plus a selfie of her/him licking an ICE-CREAM while walking on rope, acrossing two opposite skyscrapers, in a steemit shirt.
Won't i vote on this person from day-one and on to day-infinity? Won't you?
Grasp?
There are a ton of testimonials to this but i don't mention names because i don't and because that wasn't my point. My point is/was:
If you are entering a new place and you have one shot; "one post", why not just make your entry big?
It is really easy and i will tell you how! Simply visit this post below, if you are new to steemit and you haven't done your INTRODUCTORY POST yet:
Then, read through it and possibly the comments too!
After you have done so, write a post telling us "who you are"; using at least these 2 hashtags: #introduceyourself & #untalented
However for your Introductory post, make #introduceyourself the first tag!
Then insert as many images as you want of yourself but add one that is a selfie of you, verifying yourself as real or an existing human. "You can afford to be #untalented and inventive when doing this as your aim is to be extraordinarily YOU".
Your verification doesn't necessarily have to be a selfie! It can also simply be links to your other social media accounts or even a video of you.
Read this:
https://www.steemithelp.net/#/verification/
Is Verification Compulsory?
Not in every case as there is also a privacy paradigm, dented into the model of the steem blockchain and some join steemit mainly for anonymity. For steemians, who want to maintain anonymity, you can still get verified here:
https://www.steemverify.com/
However, if you are one who come to steemit, with the freedom/choice to display YOU, then why not just complete your #introduceyourself post with a verification.
If you were invited onto steemit, just mentioning how you found steemit and who invited you can serve as a form of verification too!
Your inviter (especially a renown steemian) may get notified and come vouch for you in the comments.
Overall, no one will police you as you do have the right to privacy but how about hitting steemit running, with many steemians connecting with you fully (on your very first post) because you are YOU and it is evident and you captured their heart and pulled them all in? This is very much possible!
Ultimately when the act is free, requires just a little extra effort yet creates great infinite potential, why not complete the act bigtime and leave it out there?
Yes, much later in the future, a person (steemian) may want to give you a giant opportunity and in making this decision, he/she may want to give you an understudy and re-source out your #introduceyourself post.
e.g i haven't seen my #introduceyourself post in ages but recently, several steemians looked for it, left a comment and i found it and read it again. See:
By adding some form of verification to you #introduceyourself post, you remove any form of reluctance on the part of a curators who find your post and give them freedom to vote freely. Remember that more veteran curators also have a reputation to guard e.g @curie curators, may have their curation score take a hit, by submitting a post that got unapproved.
Too, curators would relish that none of their daily upvoted posts was visited on and disapproved by @steemcleaners
Curation is also a very important aspect of the steemit ecosystem!
In my regular curation, i have found many new steemians seeking how to start on steemit and an #introduceyourself just after reading UNTALENTED 1.0 "WHO ARE YOU?" is a very good place to start.
Hahaha, i didn't know where to start when i joined steemit, thus, my #introduceyourself post came weeks later
e.g of what i have been saying
@jon24jon24 has brought several people on steemit recently, from the Philippines and he has had some of them start their steemit journey after reading UNTALENTED 1.0 "WHO ARE YOU?" and the resulting #introduceyourself post have come
Please consider sharing this post to as many new friends that you bring on steemit as it is always nice that they are treated to a home on steemit from day 1 and #untalented family is an instant home.

3. Visit https://steemitstage.com; a sandbox used by @steemitdev to test features before they are decided upon as to whether to be implemented on steemit. It is super fast and works smoothly and using the interface will give them data to work with, in relation to improving steemit.com
Too, just yesterday, the interface below was tried out on steemitstage:
The interface has been reverted to how steemit looks!
Ultimately, my point is: judging from the action of the community and steemit INC's response to community as have been evident by hardforks and as shown in the little history at the onset of this post and even more recently, there is evidence that there has been movement; "progress".
Let's go!
Your Boy Terry

Dear Terry,
How are you doing? Sorry If I cannot attend our conference today as I am busy reading and learning from newbies.
Gosh a bit overwhelming!
"Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!"
I will be honest though, I cannot finish reading these blog right now. I have tone of pending blogs of yours. They're just so massively long that it takes my whole day reading and my head hurts already (not to mention am watching Comos: "A Spacetime Odyssey, a Documentary Series on Netflix while typing these... will I be good at multitasking?!) LOL
No worries though, I will finish reading this soon, one at a time. I skimmed though but I have to say so many fillers, way too much. No hard feelings. I am a big fan of goodreads and everyone is copying you, everything that you do, even the ay you blog. I know this because I did this. I was copying almost everything that you were doing, little did you know about this.
The thing is I look up to you. You already know that. Everytime you mentor me, I learn new things and I really appreaciate it. I really do, I appreciate your time and effort.
I am good listener bt doesn't mean I agree to everything that you teach me. I have a lot of mentors in real life. I think you know what I mean.
You know, I was going to write this to you on discord but I want everyone to know, how much respect I have in you, you are a friend and a real treasure.
Sorry, if I have to write this here, I don't really have much time to look for the right blog for this letter.
I am going to be busy but I will keep in touch. Thank you for everything that you do for this community. Thank for the endless learning.
Your Friend,
Gil
What can i say switie. You are swit
stay awesome @purepinay. We miss you::):)
you are right bro...
@surpassinggoogle
i agree with her - it's too long
hahahha
but well.. content is king ;)
this is still ringing in my eyes loll
umamin ka wala ka homework s school no? hahahah
ganito parusa samin nun
wala bang maiksi lang na pwde iresteem?
yung simple lang - direct to the point
I remember how I made a lengthy introduction post when I started here with lots of pictures and stuff... but I forgot to use the introduceyourself tag... hahha.. There wasn't any active Philippine curators then either... it took me some time... a few weeks to a month or so... but still, I am able to find my place in Steemit... :) My introductory post might not have been read by many, but important thing is... NOW. I also believe that introducing yourself doesn't end in a single post... because every day, you discover more of yourself... others also discover more about you as you try to communicate more... ^^
Yes to all.
hihi.. ^^ Thanks sir Terry! :)
true that!!!! here's to re-introducing yourself all the time.
hihihihi ^_^ Thanks!!! :D Yep... Getting to know one another is an endless introduction... ^^
I was putting together a chat response for one of my staff who recently got confirmed in steemit. Then I saw this and you saved me from typing a long response.
Awesome. Thank you
If I had read this post before, I would have figured out Steemith's work much faster. . Many do not understand the principle of the site go. Thank you for the lesson, it is very necessary for us.
hey Terry!!! I love what you're doing on #untalented! Thankyou for supporting all the amazing new people we have joining us here. It's very inspiring to see how encouraging and energized you are. You have my witness vote.
also, I just thought I'd offer, I've been told I did a pretty good introduction post, feel free to share with people as an example whenever you like.
Also, here's maybe my favorite introduction I've seen on Steemit, by @jessandthesea.
maybe i should save them when I find ones I like, i feel like I've seen a lot of great ones, but hers is the one that comes to mind at the moment.
If you only knew how you got me speechless; first by mentioning #untalented and then by those two samples posts. Too, for picking up on my name and saying it.
#untalented is a branch of #steemgigs and i am prayerful that it goes historical. I am try to working on tools to make it awesomeness and an interface too. It is a never-ending curriculum, that fixes and empowers, removes barriers to entry and for once targets the world as a whole. I will just pause.
I don't know if you read this. We don't want anyone on entire steemit to be amiss when it comes to this beauty.
https://steemit.com/untalented/@steem-untalented/the-most-historical-human-bot-account-for-organic-human-curation-by-the-untalented-family
As for the witness vote i am grateful too. I made the witness "steemgigs" instead of surpassinggoogle to represent the community
Perfect, got it =)
I hadn't yet, and now I think my brain has been kissed by the lips of the mother and her song smiles on my eye bones.
you're doing the good work brother!!! I'm proud to be with you !
Thank you alot. My next post will be up in a bit and it will have those two posts that you showed me
I'm not an avid fan of ice cream but I will definitely upvote and follow someone who can do this! Lol
Going back, my very first post here is an underwater shot of myself with very few words telling something about me. I was clueless back then and have no idea what to do. I was lucky enough to get 7$ or so for that introductory post.
Hahaha you see. Same here on all aspects of your comment
Wow, I better try this out seir.
Everytime I have new invites, I inspire them to write more about themselves but becuase of their hectic schedules, they can just provide a short intro and I'm sorry for that Sir. Some of them are also shy to provide their pictures but maybe my instructions to them are not enough and also motivation. Now I have a new tag to tell my upcoming invites which is "Untalented." It's an excellent idea to know them well, not just a single picture of themselves. Going back to the day where I was a newbie, I never knew the importance of Introduction post until my friends in discord told it to me and then I read also your comment. However I am lucky you hosted a contest of untalented where I introduced myself and the good thing was, you encouraged us to provide our artworks, allow our flaws, and let us feel that our talents are always valued. Always thank you.
Yep, i am glad about that. It is okay for them to start on. When they grow in confidence and want to share more about themselves, then can do so then
Agreed with you untalented is a big family !
ICe is just more than love lol .
Each day, I will tell you about ICE-CREAM like crazy!
But while walking on the rope ? :D i mean :P please dont killin me Freaking out :D hahahaha
you know what many of my friends joined steemit by watching untalented contest seriously if you dont believe me ask @moize ask @bebobaloch they just love untalented !
I am happy to hear that
Great effort and a right guide line for steemians specially new users. I only saw @surpassinggoogle, who only think for others , very kind, helping and mentor for us no doubt you are our leader and hero.it is only possible due to you that many people joined family @steemgigs and using a tag of #untalented in their posts, that's great achievement. Now every one also me think it like a home and do everything freely there.introduce yourself has massive turn out because everyone took interest in it and its popularity go high and high day by day. I appreciate you by heart your efforts for the promotion and development of steemit. thanks a lot,..
Steem On,,....!
Hahaha thanks
I joined steemit, more than a month ago.
i accidentally joined steemit after reading an article about how to make money in posting, yes, no one invited me to join steemit. on my first day i definitely have no Idea what to do and what to post, so my first posts ended up on copying on other site and cheeta was the only one who voted and comented on my post.
and It takes me a week to make a short introducemyself post.
but thank you @surpassinggoogle for your #untalented contest "who am I" this contest gives me a chance to introduce myself much deeper.
You are welcome. I am glad you got helped eventually. Stay awesome. I found steemit through organic surfing too
for sure sir, your #untalented concept will run for a long time, and many people can help by your contests especially the newbies.
godbless your sir and stay awesome on surpassing google. :)
wow another long post. It does takes a while to read and comprehend (omg I am getting old my dear boy) but it is true that your introduction does play a large role when joining because if it sounds and looks uninteresting, how can you catch the eye of a dolphin or whale (did I catch yours? lol) But I still go on learning day by day/ I like the new way the page looks? It seems more clear and neat. Take care Terry-boy will be back later so busy today :)
Yes, just the underlying message enough. We catch minnows too. On steemit, many minnows are as powerful as whales. Thank you for visiting. Loving you.
e.g of an intro: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@itchykitten/feeling-steemy-i-m-jared-from-montana-and-i-stayed-up-all-night-writing-this-it-s-morning
wow his intro is great wish I could be as creative as he is. Well maybe someday I will. Thanks Terry-boy I mad this comment early this morning and poor old me I forgot to press post hahah so I posted it this evening. Oh well blame it on old age. Lots of love and blessings for you.
Hahaha. It made me laugh. Thank you
These guide lines for steemians will help new users. You think of others and you are one of the best mentor available in steemit. You promoted @steemgigs and hashtag #untalented in their posts, is great achievement. This will make us feel homely. Introduce yourself has been popular and I have seen many posts under this tag. Keep the good works and keep promoting steemit and helping steemians !
Let's Continue Steeming :)
Sweetness. Thank you. Did you see this too:
https://steemit.com/untalented/@steem-untalented/the-most-historical-human-bot-account-for-organic-human-curation-by-the-untalented-family
We are still working on it
This is one great lesson everyone should read and take action on. Getting around Steemit from day one can be hard but when it does click, it becomes sweet. Thank you for this article and accurate pointers.
Yes, thank you much
Hello @surpassinggoogle
You are doing a great job to keep this community growing.
How i wish i knew about all this at my early stage in this community.
Though your guides guide me to guide the newbies that needed to be guided.lol

You are welcome

I see my experience is in your post @surpassinggoogle, I think everyone feels the same when just using steemit, the words that I quote from your post that is.
No doubt
Hi :D
Lately, Iv'e been recruiting some of my friends to join steemit and they were interested and make an account. Probably I should share this post to them.
Thankyou for this post @surpassinggoogle
Yes, thank you much. If you have questions ask me
really! can I have it here?
Sure thing. Always exercise freedom in my space
My question is, where does the funds of steemit came from?. These question came from a friend who doubts about steemits legitimacy and I want to prove her that this platform is not a scam.
Thankyou
Well the answer depends on the industry or the niche of the person. If he is tech inclined then the answer will be different and may be straight from the whitepaper or there are many resource on google here or even videos:
Just type "where does the money come from steemit"
As for an easy way to explain, it is quite simple. It happens everywhere even in the real world, where is community or like game tokens for instance, which are valueless until given value. Even money (paper) is simply paper till accepted by a group or nation as medium of exchange but now for money value is determined by govt etc and thus regulated but remember trade by barter. the value there was created by many factors becos i can very much be one-on-one relationship and you are exchanging one good for the other. Now, simply example that you can use to explain. gift cards, mayb amazon, may have started small and accepted as medium of exchange by maybe first members of staff of amazon, then amazon starts to grow in communit size and thus more members round the world who now acknowledge but still internally to amazon staff but as they grow, people who are not amazon staff start to acknowledge it too, then price can very much start to fluctuate from the original. for instance, i can have 500 amazon gift card but i need money hurriedly and i dont have time to go to amazon and i come to you and say, take this amazon paper or card and gimme 400 usd, you will give me, as long you also know of amazon and acknowledg the price of the card is actually 500. then you go to amazon and get 500. a next time someone comes to do a repeat, you will accept it more easily than the first. now an ordinary paper which is not money starts to have value and price fluctuates away from the actual price that amazon originally set it out. for steem, tokens are created and distributed but we give it value, cos we acknowledge as steemians, then the token is on coinmarketcap and even externally, people learn of steemit and its technology and try to foresee a good future here and perhaps by some tokens too, thus acknowlege it as valuable based on the value proposition that steemit provides. to scarcity happens when steemit goes mainstream and everybody wants it, but there is a small supply to be sold, the price then rises. i dont do trades, i am just basing this on logic. Nothing scam. it happens in the real world. even in the real world. there are many sides to it but using the real world will help him grasp easily.
Thankyou @surpassinggoogle! I'll try to explain it also to my friend
Kuya Terry @surpassinggoogle I really appreciate your dedication and love to all. You always give your time and attention to those who needed you. More energy and power to you. Love much!
okay thankyou
@surpassinggoogle just see this I just found a gem in untalented family <3

Hello my dear @suspassingoogle! Here again.
For days I had in my thoughts to invite Spanish-speaking friends to join steemit and steemgigs as a witness, but insecure if it is good because of the Spanish language.
What do you think?
I think it is great. Can you translate my posts to spanish?
I would love to do it, but I do not speak English, I only know some vocabulary to get the main idea and I help a translator for everything else.
Your post deserves an expert translator that does not change a single comma, because your message is special.
However, I will be here as always and support steemgigs with my friends. I am determined to stay here and with this beautiful community.
Hugs.
You are on great mentor, brother. You are motivational towards newbies.
I am bringing in some of our brothers and sisters, and hopefully they will find success here to support the ministry.
Yes awesome. You can tell me when they are here
This is awesomely wonderful.

Looks like I haven't made my introductory post yet. Actually i never felt that it is necessary. But after reading your post it now seems that I should me one. Thanks.
@surpassinggoogle I have been on steemit for quite awhie lets say 2-3 months, would it still be nice to do an introducemyself post because I didn't do mine then.... Was totally ignorant of it till later
Sure thing!
Thank you so much for this information. I am new and lately, I introduced myself already, but if I could do it again, I would definitely do it different! Trying to be different from others on the right way is the best way to be noticed. That's what I always already said for Job interviews and letters.. Thank you! I will follow your account and I hope I can earn more from you!
Great route. My last post teaches more

Nice comment. Thank you
Pleasure is all yours :)
You see bro if I should remember my introductory post I do laugh myself cos no one guide through and I was eager to post and there by I did not get the really factor of introduce yourself. Now the only thing I can do to help others is to resteem this guidelines.
Thanks for posting this .
Is awesome.
Yep. Same here! I did mine weeks later. It's all good. There are lot of newbies now, you can simply share this resource
