An important update has just been released for the STEEM software. Please update to v0.19.1rc1 ASAP to help fix urgent overflow issues, and will also fix the current bandwidth issues with a modified algorithm.
Please also reduce your block size to 65536
until the update is locked in
There were two big problems with the bandwidth algorithm. The first was an integer overflow that caused
max_virtual_bandwidth
to be calculated incorrectly. The second was a programmed behavior that caused bandwidth requirements to increase too rapidly for a small increase in traffic. We have implemented a new algorithm for how to calculate global bandwidth requirements that still protects the blockchain under extreme circumstances, but is less aggressive during small deviations from past behavior.

So I see we all have a bandwidth bar at steemd.com now, what does this mean ? is the amount of bandwidth shown for a day, week, month ? and I see newbies only have 300kb isn't this less ? anyone who can clearify it to me ? appreciate it !
that is your current bandwidth, if you can't post, it will likely be a negative number. as your bandwidth goes into the postive, the more actions you will be able to take. In Real Time
Yes I am curious about the same thing RE what exactly the badwidth bar on steemd shows and means
I'll let you guys handle this, too confusing for me 😂😂😂
The bandwidth error was getting kinda annoying really. Good thing at least the error didn't stay for long.
Wow this is great!!
Resteemed and voted to get the word out.
Mucho gracias amigo 😁
Hopefully the bandwidth error can be resolved completely now.
Increasing the blocksize has definitely helped as I've rarely got the error now.
Thank you for all your great work to fix issues and improve the usability of the platform @someguy123
Thanks for your hard work!)
funny https://steemd.com/witnesses still shows someguy123 running 19.0 :) so far only 5 witness are running new patch according to steemd
ahh update finished it seems :)
That's cause he's faster than light.
can't be that much work patching , but wonder why there are still so many witness on 19.0 probably relying on hosting party to update.
Done, I've updated my Witness. Thanks for the info @someguy123. Thanks for your help.
Wow great news

Well, the mechanics of bandwidth are certainly over my head, but I appreciate all the witnesses taking action. I have gotten the error message both before and after the block size was changed, perhaps due to the overflow error that you stated..
thank you
