King of the jungle relaxing. On a full stomach, they can rest and spend up to 18hrs sleeping! At night time, they take strolls to inspect and mark their territory which at times might extend a few thousand square kms of prime land.
A pride might have upto three males in most cases brothers, they are responsible for mating, protection and sometimes hunting of big prey.

The queen is responsible for feeding the family, she and her relatives (sisters, aunties and daughters) are expert hunters. They hunt food for the whole family, sometimes the king will join in the hunt. A pride has several females and cubs. It is a very close knit group.

They do not tolerate outsiders.

What's the best time of the year to go to Masai Mara?

Hello @nobelcause, thank you for your upvote. You want to visit mara when there's alot of action - it happens during the wildebeest migration, approximately 1.5million of them cross river mara for feeding grounds.
Its is sad to see but they are food to the crocs in the water and other preys on land!
July August is the best time sometimes they cross in September too.
At this time the roads are a bit better as compared to April May when there is long rains.
Ps. Do your reservations on good time the hotels surrounding mara are always fully booked during that period.
Best wishes ☺☺

Great shots! It's always very interesting watching the way animals behave.

Hello wachera.
Yes it is, i gets emotional sometimes when you see what people do to animals!
Government has been doing alot to see that wildlife is protected. We anticipate an increase of big cats and the big five.
We'll be seeing more of them☺ followed

Yes! I'm also excited that the numbers have been on an increase the last few months. Let everyone play their role to ensure they remain protected. Quite the National heritage we got here! Followed back 😊
