These bugs are some longtime friends of mine..
With thousands of individual species living on every continent except Antarctica, the group of insects classified as Cicadas are incredible. I have seen a lot of posts featuring them since joining steemit and I was even blessed enough to be able to photograph on emerging from the larvae stage last year.
LINK HERE TO MY PHOTO POST OF A CICADA EMERGING
Some types of Cicada are classified as periodical Cicadas, which can take up to 17 years to emerge from the soil and finally transform into a flying creature.
As an adult, their size and bulk, not to mention their strong, yet transparent wings, sets them apart from other flying insects. In the summer, you can often hear them buzzing away high in the treetops. Enjoy the video of one of my favorite bugs!
The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

Hello @papa-pepper
great post ! We read your article and watched your video with lots of enjoyment and are happy to see your great reward for it !
You are already at earnings of $ 213 wthin 3 hours online time of your post ! Thats fantastic !!
We @fairvote are looking manually for good content like yours with the focus of users, which contributing that kind of content, but dont have the network or reputation like yours yet.
We think it is an good idea to reward these users at least with a minimum for their efforts, to keep them in our community. Thats our mission !
We would be happy, if you will have a look at the contribution of @wishmaiden,
who posted an
great song, composed and sang by herself
We upvoted the post of @wishmaiden and hope many many upvotes will follow !
All the best @papa-pepper !
"unseen" haha. @papa-pepper's posts are relatively well-seen!
Great mission statement. A bit ironic in this case.
@thanks for reading our comment. We are sorry that there is may an missunderstanding in our comment.
We thought to say to have a look at the contribution of @wishmaiden,
who posted an
great song, composed and sang by herself
Seems not to be clear enough though
There was no misunderstanding your comment on my part. But what I quoted was on your @fairvote home page. I quoted exactly your mission statement, and then your reply makes it seem like you didn't know that this is your mission statement.
On the unlikely chance that you don't know where your own home page is located, or what is written there, it is https://steemit.com/@fairvote . Clicking that link will show you your own mission statement.
"FairVote For You (43)
Created to find and reward mostly unseen quality content
42 followers | 34 posts | not following anybody"
This statement of yours, emphasized in Italics, is ironic.
I am sorry @uruiamme, but I dont get your point.
Actually I would love to understand, as we want for sure make this fairvote thing better and better...
So..
You said..."unseen" haha. @papa-pepper's posts are relatively well-seen!"
Thats not our point, our point is to ask you and other reader here and papa-pepper to please have a look at the post of @wishmaiden .
We think @wishmaiden contributed a great post to this community and yes, she is relatively unseen !
Our mission is to point to user with relatively unseen quality content and we think we did in that case..
So am I wrong ?
No, you are correct. But only half-correct. You promoted the "unseen" post of @wishmaiden, yes!
But you also highlighted the papa-pepper post where we are having this discussion, correct? Did you not just post this in which you promoted papa-pepper the same as wishmaiden and show them side-by-side?
I call that ironic when your account says that it is promoting "unseen" posts!
So my observation is simple. You picked two Steemians to reward yesterday. Great! If your goal is to "find and reward mostly unseen quality content," then wouldn't it be best to reward two "mostly unseen" posts from users who are less well known?
@uruiamme thanks a lot for your detailed explanation. I think we got it now. We changed some things to point to what we want and do more. We hope it will be now more easy to understand. Thanks !
I love the wild mans wild friends^^...I really liked the episode about the mole mate.
I remember growing up with my brother collecting those empty shells lol. When my late father would go take us fishing I would see them coming out sitting on top of their shell before they took off and flew. They also all make a sound I think with there wings all at once. I don't see those here in Florida anymore. This was back up in Nj. Thanks for sharing great little childhood reminder for me🌞
It looks like you are not alone in childhood memories of these creatures. Thank you for sharing.
HAHA No I guess not! It's the small things like this I miss most about living up North. In Florida it kind of feels like groundhogs day everyday. Meaning no seasons :) Enjoy your weekend and 4th of July, papa-pepper :)
Good
good article, upvoted
Congratulations @papa-pepper!
Your post was mentioned in my hit parade in the following category:
I love the sound they make when they all hum together, sometimes in the Australian bush the noise is literally deafening. Thanks papa
Cool - They can get very loud!
This is so coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
This bugs are every where....👀
Thanks @papa-pepper ! Last year I was able to see one emerging. I was not able to get a picture of that, but here are a few that I was able to get after it left its shell.
Very cool! It was my first time seeing it!
I've found this insect so interesting after reading this article that I always like to see more stuff about it.
@papa-pepper
Cicada are very famous in india as well .
We can see them in indian rain forest
But I hate them ! Hehe
Thank You for sharing
Everybody eyes wide open, @papa-pepper just posted some beautiful creatures. Can't help but love these bugs and wonder about how vast are the species of our planet. Thanks for sharing! keep it up. upvoted
Glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks so much!
Its amazing to have contact with animals, thank you for sharing the pictures and the video of the cicada! c:
That looks cute @papa-pepper :D
Although looks a little like an alien ;)
I love cicadas and my dog does too! @jbcoin
I miss their little music from when I lived in the east coast and they'd hang amongst my camellias⭐️
Great post. I absolutely love cicadas. When I first moved to Tx, the humming sound they all made was almost deafening. I'm not sure if I am just become used to hearing it, but now I have to make a conscious effort to hear them. Kinda sucks, really.
Sleep in a tent... you will hear them. LOL
True that! I definitely need to go camping more often.
Wow. Never heard of saw these type of insect but they look amazing.
cool post again man :D really enjoy keeping track of your blog.
and the close-up pictures are epic special the one that is getting ''born'' or how would you say it? :)
I used to catch this when I was a kid back in our province. This thing is too noisy but we love catching em and playing with it. But the color of the one we are catching is brown.
It didn't look real till you took it from your finger and it started to move. I am glad we don't have them in Ireland. I would freak out...
When I was a kid we used to have annual summer solstice potluck parties. One year, someone brought a TON of fried cicadas and I tried one. Not great, but not TOO bad either!
Sounds delicious!
I remember chasing cicada's as a kid, we use to trade them at school with each other. Cheers.
I love cicadas. They would makes sounds in the forests of upstate New York when I camped there. When I hear them it reminds me of camping and hot weather.
Interesting, wild man! 14 years!! Will definitely check out the entire series. And thanks for the proof @papa-pepper! ;)
Eww nasty, put that down you dont know where its been and go wash your hands lol thank god its only very small
Karen, these insects are particularly hideous to touch. Their wings are kind of sticky and itchy. They feel just like they look... if not worse. And when they land on you when trying to go to sleep, it is quite disgusting.
Have a good night!
Ewww dont want to sleep after reading that
I hate insects, especially the ones as big and weird-looking as the Cicada you are holding
Never understood people who can touch them. I mean... what if it bites or stings you? Scaryyy
These cannot bite or sting, only punch a hole in your skin.
Wow it looks like a pokemon to me. Hello @papa-pepper I am really amazed with your videos of fantastic creatures. I hope you have bearded dragon lizard or an axoltl I really love those creatures but it is really expensive to buy, If you have one those I've mention will you please gift me one 🤗🤗 I will be forever grateful to you 🤗🤗
Those are some pretty cool creatures! I don't have any at the moment though.
Omfg!! @papa-pepper noticed me! You are so famous in our college particularly in Engineering. We are amazed with your kindess to darthnava. I hope you will have those one of my favorite creature axoltl and bearded dragon.
Excuse my action. Im new in Steemit today is my 8th day 🤗
Lol, don't worry about it. I try to reply to all. The kindness was not mine alone.
You are so wholesome. Hope to meet more people like you on Steemit.
Have a nice day ahead @papa-pepper and yeah don't forget to mention me if you already have an axoltl or a bearded dragon.
So weird! The last post I read resteemed and upvoted before this one was about Cicadas!? But it was about a fungi that parasitized the cicada. I guess it's that time of year!
These things are cool. Man we really get em here in Viginia. So loud its deafening. Yeah I hate to say but so glad after they go.
Hey nice post 👍!!
The reason you relate so well with animals is because you're an animal. I tell you often, I don't know how you do it all. You need to bottle up some of the energy and sell it
Hey @papa-pepper, aren't these buddies harmful for people?
Cicadas are actually pretty cool looking. I like how you have it perched on your finger like that. Nice find and an even better catch!
We have some yellow-black cicadas over here in DC. People here tend to get annoyed of all the noise they make but I always welcome a friend of Papa!
U're beatiful
I love the sound of these mysterious creatures. In the desert southwest where I live folklore says that their song signifies that the rains are on their way. Their wings are intricate works of art. Beautiful! Thank you for posting about them.
I really appreciate their wings too. Thanks!
You telling me we get them here in England where would I look for one . And why didn't he fly away
Hi sir, you have an interesting posts, into the wild. You are the first person I followed in the community.
Thats one scary looking green a$$ fly
I remember those things from watching anime haha
insect is very beautiful, as nature created them so beautiful and their needs in the nature is very properly proportion. the way u played is damn hilarious bro haha. anywayz very nice story uve shared. nice one
Good
Wow! Yours is huge! I saw my first one here the other day, just a fraction of the size of that one! That one is pretty cool looking, reminds me of a Pokémon or something! Ha
Those things are crazy big!
Isn't it crazy how many different varieties of wild critters there are? We found a spider shaped like a star. Never seen anything like it before.
Amazing @papa-pepper! That picture of the cicada freeing from its exoskeleton. Wow! It's the evolution of cicada.
I'm curious, how many minutes/hours/days did it take to evolve?
That is one beast of an insect! I have never seen one before so thanks for sharing!
