I can imagine the situation you're describing (one where your true value is not appreciated) would be frustrating at times. I like what you said here - " as a society simply don't value it enough to put it in the price range of a new car" It's so crazy the levels of value we assigning isn't it???
Ultimately I'm glad you're finding some value through steemit. It really changes the game of money when we can participate in a decentralized system of rewarding content. You're worth need to be seen and compensated! The culture we live in has a VERY skewed set of values, and I'm happy you're being rewarded.
Homesteading is really a culture, and you're right A LOT of learning is required (steep curves at times). What you say is SOOOOO true. We're getting going and happy that we're succeeding on the whole. It is really like a more than full time art project that has a wildly biological factor!!!
