春秋战国时代，鲁国的手工业相当发达。楚国人攻打鲁国的时候，鲁国人惧怕鲁国，便是派遣孟孙氏“请往赂之，以执斲、执鍼、织紝，皆百人，公衡为质，以请盟”，可见鲁国人的能工巧匠们，很是受到列国们的重视，即便是强大如楚国也是可能极度认可的。
