Unfairness of Steemit for New Steemers - Whales? What a Heck!

Whales of steemit

Yes, that's right.

  • Whale - Means people who joined steemit when it began and has massive steem-power, steem-power will dictate how much your post is worth it.

This post might not even hit the 10 up-vote mark and is mainly because no whale will vote for it, you rather need to tell a story about your life introducing yourself properly or have tit's in a post with nice pictures of yourself or be quiet insane to gain some traction, even then you might not be so lucky due to the flood of new posts being entered into the system a whale might not see you, I've seen a lot of under-valued posts where the author has written an amazing post and got some up-votes but none from a whale, therefore making it's value very little to none.

Where is decentralisation in this? Only whales can make you trend, because they up-vote is worth a lot of money! new steemers will unlikely get noticed unless his/hers posts get voted-up by a whale.

These are simply true facts and by no mean's were written to damage the reputation or steemit's value, it is merely an observation.

You are only blogging for a week and you are already pissed off with the system. I am not a whale and will properly not be one soon - if ever, but as in any community, cyber or physical, you get around by paying attention to others. It is not what you can get from it, but what you can give to them. Just be part of the community and forget about the votes and earnings. Share with us you passion and what make you tick in life.

100 percent agree. Wrote about it in a #minnowcodeofconduct post a few days ago.

It definitely seems like an uphill battle, but if you're not too worried about it, it's a fun game. @djiboutidave and I have been on here a little bit and to me it's just fun to see where this is going and if it catches on. If it does, great! If not, no loss just entertaining.

I agree and I am interested to see where it goes. The platform has mainly being advertised as a way for people to be introduced to the steem currency and for giving people the opportunity to make money, one of the main things that is being advertised for is that is built on top of the blockchain, therefore being decentralised, but even though one can dictate the direction of ones success.

So if I bought Berkshire back in the 80's, that's not fair to new investors? I've heard this all before with Bitcoin.
