Good morning fellow Steemians,
Most stories, true or not, are told to you at a young age from your elders. This is one of them.
Once not to long in the distant past, there where two villages competing for fish to feed their people, one was called Gansbaai and the other Hermanus.
One day a youngster from Gansbaai saw a puff of smoke on the horizon, unlike anything he had ever seen. The smoke was white and merged with the ocean as if it was one and the longer the boy looked at the sight, the closer it came, until he saw the majestic white whale. He ran to his father and told him what he had seen and that it could mean that the white whale was looking for a home.
The father then went to the chief and laid down his plan to help the whale settle there, but the chief refused and yelled that white whales do not exist. Even if they did, they were a fishing village and the whale would never settle with hunters of the waters.
The boy, crying from the news he had just received, waved goodbye to the whale as it swam down the coast towards Hermanus.
The rest is history. Gansbaai is still to this very day known as a fishing village, whereas Hermanus is a tourist destination where whales come to give birth to the next generation.
If you are looking for some memorable vacation destinations, Gansbaai is still a great place to spend some time (http://gansbaaiinfo.com/). Having great white sharks is a bonus for those thrill seakers. The food is cheap and yummy too.
Hope you all have a blessed day*
