Marly Travels #6: Aloha & Mahalo! Having Fun Biking The Central Park In New York πŸ“· Plus: Special Steemit Donation πŸ’š

'If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.' - Vincent van Gogh

I couldn't agree more, Vincent.

In New York you can find that intensive and concentrated beauty in the Central Park.

Being a nature lover and oxygen addict, to me visiting the park was like recharging my body with energy.

Come in and get lost in this green oasis!

Happiness is not a destination, it's a way of living. Every day πŸ’œ

Nature lover seeking the wild

After three days of sightseeing in the streets of New York I needed some green.

Being a surfer girl that usually spends most of her time in nature, to me a city trip is exhausting in different ways.

My body is used to breath fresh, clean and salty oxygen every day.Β

It wasn't easy to adapt my rhythm to the smoggy, humid, brewing streets (outside) and the ice cold, dry, air conditioned buildings (inside).

If I was living in New York, I'd probably spend a couple of hours per day in the Central Park.

@surfermarly biking the Central ParkΒ

Biking fun & green energy boost πŸ’š

On my last day in New York I rented a bicycle and started a discovery ride through the Central Park.

As always I got up early, left my hotel, crossed the 57th Street, grabbed a coffee and a blueberry scone at Starbucks and then started the day.

Walking down the street in the direction of the Broadway I had spotted some bicycle promoters the other day. So I headed towards that corner and found them and their huge advertisements again.

Half an hour later I was equipped with a nice city bike.

I started to ride towards the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir since I wanted to find the place I was dreaming of for a while.

Joggers in front of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir

Since I was in college I had a poster that spotted a girl jogging around the Reservoir, photographed exactly at the place I took the picture of these two now.

It was weird to stand there.

I had just replaced my imagination and dream for a real memory that would be now part of me and my history forever.

Sometimes you won't know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

I felt like a little girl on her favorite playground

Biking the park even reminded me of my dad teaching me how to ride a bicycle for the very first time in my life.

I found this picture so I thought it might be funny sharing it with you guys :-)

Basically things haven't changed since then. Well now my dad doesn't have so much hair anymore. Yes, I really meant "so much", haha! And mine is starting to get grey, but that's another story...:-D

@surfermarly taught by her daddy how to ride a bicycle (1985) | Please excuse the quality, it's just that we didn't have iPhones at that point of time :-)

Good old memories, haha!

Now I've got one more memory in that bicycle album.

Looking back I'm simply grateful that I had such a nice childhood.

My parents showed me that the world is like you look at it. Since then I've always tried to make the best of it.

There may be days you can't see the world's beauty at first sight. However, it's worth fighting for the life you desire and deserve. Every day!

Aloha & Mahalo! Bought that cap in Soho and will keep it as a nice memory anchor

It actually doesn't matter how many souvenirs you buy on a vacation. The best, purest and most authentic memories are the ones that you take with you in your mind :-)

So fellow steemians in the world, if you've ever the chance to travel to New York, don't miss to discover the Central Park!

It's totally worth it.Β

Here are some panorama shots to show you the whole beauty πŸ“·

Another perfect day in New YorkΒ

Since I really appreciate their work and the idea of the project, I'm going to make a donation.

It's defininitely one of my favorite pics from the past.
Thanks for your kind words and please excuse my delay in answering :)

@surfermarly, my favorite photograph is of you and daddy. I love daddy helping his daughter learn how to ride a bicycle. Such a beautiful post from a beautiful woman. Steem On @surfermarly

Thanks for your lovely comment :) It's definitely one of my favorite pictures from the past.
Big hugs and steem on!

Gosh, i always have wanted to be in nyc. Central park looks wonderful and i woukd agree that i also would spend alot of time there...
Question cause i havent read all your postings on nyc.
Are you rocking this trip Solo?

Oh, and almost forgot... awesomr fanny pack! :)

Hey! First of all: please excuse my late reply, I totally missed your comment. My bad!
I was alone in New York (even though I met some steemians one day) and then I went to Las Vegas with my best friend who I know from college. He's on steemit, too :) --> @knircky

Again, sorry for my late answer! Usually I do that the very same day... Busy times.

No worries... comments get buried.

Man, my cousin does that - travels solo -
She says its the best way to go, she's kind of nuts and stays at hostiles. Which is much to daring for me.
Just seems a bit lonely if you don't have others to hangout with, but it's also hard to find a travel companion :( and I've been wanting to take a vacation so might just say screw it and rock it solo!

Thanks for the Reply, You do seem very busy ;)

To me traveling alone is fantastic. When I'm not in a relationship (like it's the case at the moment) or am able to share time with my very best friend (like I did during my recent trip to Vegas) I definitely prefer to be on my own.
You can do everything at your own rhythm. If you feel the need to share some experiences then you can blog about it ;-)
I'm always trying to be busy, it's my way of a happy and fulfilled life πŸ™‚
Have a good one!

Beautiful , receive a warm greeting from Peru. Visit us soon!!!

Hehe, thank you!
My dad traveled to Peru last year. He showed me pictures and I totally loved it.
Maybe I'll go there some day. Why not! :)

Nature is a great phenomenal which humans can hide in...

Absolutely! Thanks for the nice comment :)

Such a great post and photos Central Park is without a doubt my favorite part of the city and I try to get there often

The rest of the city not so much I am a country boy at heart so commute on s 1& half hours each way to live in a beautiful small city

Have a great day

Hehe, I kind of felt the same. I was much more comfortable in the park than in the streets :)
Have a great time, too! And sorry for my late reply...

No need to apologize it's all good 😊

Up voted for you and the cause. By the way, I really am enjoying these posts of your travels. It's pretty kooool to see the sights through your writings and perception. Keep it up! Looking forward to the next one! Always enjoy and safe travels! :)

Thanks my friend! :)

Nice @surfermarly, though i prefer the B&W photo memory..hair or with no hair.
I know someone in London who only go to NYC for shopping and to go jogging in Central Park.
I prefer your way though ;)
Did you ever go to Sedona when you were in Vegas??

@immarojas! Please excuse my late reply, I somehow missed to answer earlier. My bad!
Going from London to NYC just for shopping? Wow, what a standard is that?! Haha
I'd always favor that biking experience over any other action. Shopping is generally not my prefered activity...:)
We were in Flagstaff before going to the Rafting tour in the Grand Canyon. That is close to Sedona, right?

No worries! Sedona is 2 hrs away from Grand Canyon going to Phoenix. I have no clue where Flagstaff is though we went there too but in another day so i can't place it.
Rafting is more badass @surfermarly

Haha, yeah it's definitely badass and huge fun :-D

Couldn't agree more cheers :)

great fundraiser, happy to support it!
Yes, the parks of NYC are essential!! NY can feel like a cage otherwise (to me at least since I too thrive and require nature)

Thank you!!! It's been much appreciated :-)

Wow great post! Central Park is one of my favourite places from New York. Because of my work i have to travel a lot to New York and after a long flight after i settle at the hotel i always like to relax there. I like a lot the vintage look of the photo of you and your father!

Thanks for your kind words! :)

I love steemit too! Maybe a little too much right now. Most of those photos look like you have the park all to yourself! Thanks for sharing them.

Haha, there were a lot of people but I tried to avoid having all of them in the pictures :)
We are all loving steemit way too much (all or nothing)... It's good that it's like that. It's the best social network in the world, so why not spend time here :)
Thanks for your comment and sorry for being late with my reply

Nice story. Have a nice trip @surfermarly. You deserve to get upvote

Thank you! I'm already back home :)

The money has been transferred to your wallet accordingly πŸ˜‰

Not only that nature is beautiful but it gives us good positive energy and feeling beeing alive if you know what i mean.

Fully agreed :-)

Β 7 years agoΒ (edited)Β

It's great to see the remaining nature left in cities.
I hope it persists since it adds beauty to a city that has been choked with urbanisation.

#welovesteemit This is a comment so I'll make a post later with it

I totally agree, we need more GREEN in our lives.
Big hug and keep the good stuff comin :)

You should really look forward when riding your bike, I'm sure your Dad thought you that :) I suppose it was a long time ago maybe you forgot :)
Great post

You mean not doing selfies when driving? :))
Thanks for the compliment it's much appreciated!

Hahaha yeah I didn't think about that :)
Riding with one hand, looking the wrong way AND taking selfish. That's rock n roll

super travel story ;)
wΓΌnsch dir noch einen wunderschΓΆnen Abend! :)

Thanks!

If I was living in New York, I'd probably spend a couple of hours per day in the Central Park.

Yep I bet! Same for me in Valencia. The old river bed is now a park that cuts through the city and it's an absolute oasis! Essential green to escape aircon and traffic πŸ‘πŸΎ

That sounds wonderful! :)

Yes we do find beauty everywhere. Looks like a good bike ride. I really like that old picture of you and your dad.

it's a great project initiative :) already posted with the tag

Excellent, thank you! :)

ahhhh I cannot wait to go back and visit!! @surfermarly :D

I can totally relate! :)

Nice pictures! I hope I can visit New York too.

Check out my first travel blog here at Steem as I told my adventure trip to Moalboal Cebu. Cheers for more travel! :)
