The Master Cleanse is something I came across several years ago and I can confidently say it has changed the way I look at the mind body connection. It involves a ten day committment to only ingesting a custom made lemonade. Drink as much as you want but no other food.
2 Tablespoons of fresh Lemon Juice from a lemon
2 Tablespoons of Pure Maple Syrup
1/10 of a Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper or as much as you prefer
1 – 2 cups of Pure Water
Each evening you ingest a natural laxative tea and the following morning you ingest a liter of saltwater (2 tsp. salt).
This is immediately followed by a bowel movement.
What a great activity for a cold winter! I find a different experience each time that I do it. There are hard days during the start where you are dealing with the most common withdraw symptoms from lack of caffeine, sugar, and a minimizing of calories. Ironically the most difficult thing to deal with is boredom and irritation. You begin to realize that without meals and drinks to break up your day there is a whole lot of time.... to deal with!

Many experts endorse this percieved extreme dietary measure but probably just as many do not for a variety of reasons. This diet has been around for 50 years and helped countless. I like it because it is a simple recipe and is achievable in comparison to other more complicated fasting regiments. The results are undeniable. It breaks the spell of all the junk we consume, which is crucial for people struggling with food addiction.
