This post will explain in detail how the author of the week polls will in detail.

Step by Step Guide

1- The community posts their first announcement:
Your community announces on Friday you are joining the "author of the week" initiative. In this announcement you let people know that this will happen every week and include the first 4 authors that will compete to be author of the week (week 1) during that weekend. I will include a short template for this weekly announcement. Your community keeps the rewards from this first announcement. there's no need to use beneficiaries or rewardapp. Make sure to use the #topauthors and #leofinance tags to allow easy browsing and receive $LEO rewards for this post.

2- The community posts their first poll.
Right after the announcement happens, the community creates their first poll so the community can pick their author of the week. Then you can include the link to the poll to the main announcement. Polls do not allow links, so you can include the name and short title of the post on each option of the poll. Some communities found it easy to reply to the main Thread with each link and a short description, one Thread per post, so members can see each contender's post. Make sure to use the tag #topauthors in your poll so anyone can find it!

3- The Poll ends
The Poll ends on Sunday at 23:59 PST. Don't worry about checking who won or any details, we will keep track of the winners and will let each community know who won through our Monday announcement on the next step.

4- The Marketing process
On Monday, @weeklytops will announce every winner on a reader's digest, and we will begin the Twitter Marketing weekly campaign.

5- Next week comes
You announce on Friday the new "author of the week" where you remind people who won the last week, and you let people know about the contenders for this weekend. You will use @reward.app on this 2nd announcement (and every announcement you make from now on, only the first one didn't have beneficiaries).
You will also include beneficiaries. 60% of the post rewards will go to the last week winner, 20% to @weeklytops, and 20% to the account you choose to reward the curators from your community and the person who made this announcement in your community.

After this, every week will work the same:

Every Friday you make an announcement post that includes the authors that compete for that week's "Author of the week", and in that post you set as beneficiary the winner of the previous week and use @reward.app (don't forget about the Marketing and your curators share). At the same time of the announcement, you set a poll to pick that week's winner and link it to the announcement. The poll closes on Sunday 23:59pm PST

FAQ

• The community keeps 100% of the rewards of the first announcement. The second (and 3rd, 4th...100th) will distribute the post rewards to the winner of the previous week (60%), @weeklytops for marketing (20%) and keeps the other 20% for their curators or the community, however they see it best.
• The Poll is on Threads, not Twitter.
• The Polls run from Friday evening through Sunday 23:59 PST.
• You can pick any author to compete for "author of the week" if their post hasn't paid out at the moment of writing your announcement.
• The rewards from posts made by @weeklytops will be used 100% for marketing.
• We have a private channel on discord for communities to drop their announcement post, it is called #author-of-the-week-announcements.
• To use @reward.app you have to make your post from peakd or hive.blog and choose "use reward.app" as rewards distribution option. Then send 0.001 hive to @reward.app with "0" in the memo.
• You don't have to use any template, the templates are optional to make things easier for you.
• This is an ongoing initiative, it only ends (for you) when your community doesn't want to be part of it anymore.
• You pick the author of the week contenders, there are no rules except the internal rules of your community, and we trust your judgement. One thing some do, is try to pick different authors every week, and not pick the same in X span of time to give others the chance to be author of the week but, the focus here is to reward the best content ever in your community, so it is better to repeat authors than to pick mediocre options for diversity's sake.
• Use the tag #polls in your poll if you want more people to vote on it, a lot of people browse that tag on Threads.
• The announcements do not have to come from the community account (although it would be great if it does) if you can't do it, but it does have to come from a mod or admin at least, and they must have access to the community via discord/hive to invite them to vote in the polls!
