Wednesday Walk | Tigertail Serenity

IMG_8433 (2).JPG

It’s Wednesday and time for @tatoodjay’s Wednesday Walk Challenge! I want to thank you @tatoodjay for initiating this challenge. He shares such interesting photos from his daily walks! So much to see and so much to share!

I think too often we don’t take the time to notice the beauty all around us. We scurry around each day running from one project to another, never really enjoying the beauty around us. Nature provides such peace and calm. A great way to re-energize!

This week I was preparing to visit my daughter in Denver so Mr. Bird and I decided to take a walk along one of our beautiful local beaches. I would love to share it with you for @tatoodjay’s Wednesday Walk Challenge!

Tigertail Beach

Tigertail Beach is in Collier County Florida located on Marco Island. 15 years ago it was just a sandbar located off the north shore of Marco Island. Hurricane Wilma changed all of that.

The high winds from Wilma relocated the sand from Marco Island and thus connected the sandbar, Sand Dollar Island to the mainland park named Tigertail Beach. A lagoon separates the park and the beach. You may wade through the lagoon to reach the island, or choose to walk the long way around the beach to reach Tigertail. It’s worth the walk either way!

As soon as you cross the lagoon you leave civilization behind you. Tigertail is an undeveloped, undisturbed beach with protected coastline and it’s beauty.

Loggerhead Sea Turtles nest on the Island from May until October each year. You will see protect areas where the turtles have nested. All along the island coast we have a “lights out” policy at night. This allows the mother Loggerheads the opportunity to come up on shore to nest. We leave this area alone. This will allow the eggs to hatch and the little turtles the opportunity to make it back to the gulf waters safely.

Walking along the white sandy coastline you may see dolphins, Ospreys, pelicans and many other birds. Tigertail is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail for those who are bird enthusiasts!

We even find the “shell trees” where people stop to leave special shells for others to see.

It is such a serene walk during the “off-season”. Tourists don’t frequent the area as much during the month of August. We cherish this time of year. It was a peaceful day, we both enjoyed it!

I love the beach and must be magical during golden hour. Your walk looks very peaceful and quiet. The sound of nature around you is something we always yearn for. I could just sit there for hours.

Oh you are so correct...to see the sunsets on this beach during the sunset is unbelievable. I'll try to take and share some shots some time... so peaceful, the majesty and simple beauty of nature is a true treat and blessing. Thank you for your kind comments @watersnake101

Sigh. Vicarious relaxation. I bet there was a nice breeze to go along with all that scenery, too.

So dreamy.
